That’s how stairs work

You either walk up or walk down

Life is like stairs 

You start at the bottom looking up

Not knowing what will happen 

Eventually, you take a step 

You start walking faster

And faster

And faster 

Soon your running 

Running And running 

Joy fills your body

All those happy memories 

Friends 

Family 

It all comes crashing down too quickly for you to handle

you trip and fall 

Hard 

There’s something pulling you down

Something is always pulling you down

Sexuality 

Pain

Love

People

Fear

You stay on this step

Alone

You don’t want to go on

You can’t

It’s too hard 

It hurts too much

I’m all by myself now...

You decide to stay on this step

Sitting 

Watching others climb 

Others climbing with huge pounds of baggage 

But they keep going

No matter how hard it gets

Climbing and climbing

Why?
