What is 'Hyraith'?

Hyraith is a "soon" to be finished and published story of two main characters' lives from beginning to end. It is written by two different people, meaning each main character is written in a different perspective by a different person. My character is Kira Sandu in 'Hyraith And The Song Of The Deep', while Achlys is written by Khaos in 'Hyraith And The Shifting Possibilities". (Character deep dive below)

What is it about?

Hyraith is about Kira Sandu and Achlys reaching one single goal; defeating the Wraith. The two are destined as the heroes that save Hyraith from its enemy the Wraith ever since birth. Destined to build the Sole Blade mid fight with the very things they hold dear as it is the only way to end the Wraith’s desire to rule over Hyraith and all its creatures. They are faced with enemies disguised as allies, hardships that take a toll physically and mentally, the government trying their best to kill all and any creatures that aren’t human, the war against monsters and humans, and much more all in hopes to take back Hyraith. Hyraith is full of ups and downs and heart-wrenching scenes, impacting stories, real life issues, and diverse captivating characters (Such as Edmund, Harper, Nova, Damian, Will, and many more). But all of it seems to be the curtain hiding the stage, a story hidden in a book. Who’s really in control of this all? Who’s holding the pen?

Where can I find it?

Unfortunately, since Hyraith is still a huge work in progress you won't be able to read the whole story yet, but I will share a list of Characters and their history as well as what they look like, and I will share the little extra info timbits and headcanons that we make canon!

Character List

Kira Sandu (Kiratashila Kle Sandu)

Kira was born from a offspring of about 100 other eggs produced by Jupiter (her father) and her mother. Her mother left soon after laying (as per siren culture), leaving Jupiter alone to watch the eggs. Sadly, they were attacked by other angry sirens and every egg was either lost or eaten. All except Kira. She grew up as a normal siren would, nothing too out of the ordinary. Until she stumbled to the shore of Hyraith at age 6 and met a young boy who quickly became her best friend. They wound spend most of their days together on the shore or in the waves with bright laughter and not a care in the world until the boy just stopped showing up after a year and a half. Kira would still go up to the shore every day just in case, never forgetting the other. During that time she self taught herself to transform her tail into human legs and trained herself to withstand staying in human form for longer periods of time, all so that one day she could go search for the boy. Luckily, she didn’t have to because when she turned 16 she saw the boy crying by the shore. He was much different now, much older. Longer hair and what not but Kira knew who he was. She scared the boy when she went up to him, he didn’t remember her even a little bit. When the boy left in a mix of confusion and fear Kira ran into another boy, the same age as her. His name being Damian and he just knew this was his next victim. So he seduced Kira with his smooth words and loving touches and a knife to the throat until she agreed to go with him, ending up in an abusive relationship. This lasted for just under a year until she met the gang and reunited with Edmund
Kira’s powers consist of: singing to control enemies, screeching to distract or harm enemies, changing between siren and human form, manipulating her appearance in others eyes to how she wants (ex. One person could see her with her normal hair but if she wants someone else to see her with black hair only that chosen person can see that), sharp claws and teeth, thick scales, control over any body of liquid (not blood until later), underwater breathing, and night vision (mostly for underwater use). She also holds an unconscious beast mode known as Sea Monster. Which holds every power listed above just amplified slightly, as well as a type of vision where humans, vampires, werewolves, wizards, witches and warlocks are highlighted in red while everything else appears in black and white. She can only speak in Romanian in this time and is in no control of her actions since she is considered unconscious. This mode is only active when Kira hasn’t consumed any human flesh in under two days or when a burning rage has been built up for too long. But later learn to control it. She also learns to control water clones!
Long light brown hair that fades into a bright vibrant pink that is almost always done up in two space buns with the rest of her hair down. Brown eyes that switch to pure gold and black in siren form. Fair sun kissed skin from days in the sun. Curves for days of course. Often seen in dresses with biking shorts, accessories, and heeled combat boots.
Kira is very humorous. Loud and obnoxious at most times and very bright and bubbly with others. She’ll try to be honest with you but will tend to bend the truth more than she should just to make you feel better. Focuses most of her attention onto making sure everyone else is okay rather than herself. She is very self conscious about almost everything and tends to pussyfoot around most things. But most of this is hidden behind a cocky asshole persona.

Achlys

There was a lot of condensed, unused magical energy on the island of Hyraith. This energy birthed Achlys (as most shapeshifters are born). They grew up alone learning the hard way all the do’s and don’ts of the small island. They stumbled upon a large mansion inhabited by 2 ghosts; William And Charles. They was around 8 cycles (They call it cycles as no one told them about months or years so they had to use what they could) (years but they don’t know that) in age. Will and Charlie helped teach them some basic human skills they never knew. Eventually Achlys subconsciously attempted to look like the biological child of Will and Charles as shapeshifters unconsciously mimic what they see for awhile. They would run into town every once in a while to get food. At 10 cycles they meet edmund(sibling core) and nova.
Achlys has the ability to shift into anything. They can take pieces of themselves and form smaller objects. They has to shift often or energy builds up and causes an abrupt blast of energy and a new shifter would be born. They cannot touch silver as it will burn their skin. Often on instinct their body will try to retract away from the silver, this can be…gross to say the least.
Achlys is a shapeshifter and can change however they likes. But their most common form is one that looks ended up with a human enough shape with golden brown skin smeared with traces of vitiligo. Dark orange, black bear eyes sat in my sockets. My mouth seems to smear like acid on my face. Coyote canine’s attempt to mesh into a human jaw. Black tailed deer ears sat on either side of my face, small antlers accompanying them. Short snow-white curls frame my face. Racoon-like claws sat on top of my grey stained fingers. My legs popping out slightly in a coyote-like manner.
Achlys has no social skills and no filter. They have a difficult time expressing and understanding emotions. They often react irrationally in the face of the emotions they don't understand. They have no understanding of general social ques and struggle in social settings. They do have severe anxiety and it can heavily affect a situation and their reaction to it. They don't understand what to do when their anxiety gets the best of them. They get very angry when it comes to grievings. This doesn’t stop them from being the comedic relief character. They have the best one liners and storage phrases. We love them.

Often around Will and Charles Achlys subconsciously makes their appearance look like the biological child of Will and Charlie. Will hasn’t noticed but Chalie has and he finds it adorable.
One day Achlys shows up in a dress and someone is like ‘I thought you weren’t a girl’
And they are like ‘I’m not I’m just sexy’ They then wear primarily feminine clothing that week to prove a point.
Achlys represses so much that im pretty sure 99.9% of their emotion slide into the repression box before you can even sense them.
If you ever see Achlys after the Cage/prison bit. They sometimes keep the scars that they would get from the burns. They keep it bc they finally accepted some emotions and think they need it after how they reacted to Kira and Edmund’s death.
Achlys is extremely protective
Achlys gains the ability to fully shift (powers and anatomy), and also inanimate objects

Edmund Ramos

Edmund grew up in a very catholic household. Their father runs a very high paying business with their mother being the secretary to said business. With the two working on their company, Edmund hardly ever spent time with their parents. They have an older brother, Florentino, who they were never truly close with. Mainly do to lack of same intrests and a 3 year age gap. When Edmund was 6 they managed to make best friends with a young siren girl. They spent an entire year and a half with the girl, meeting at the shore and playing the days away. May it be after school or church, Edmund would sneak off to the shore and call her name. Eventually, Edmund grew up. They visited less and less and ende up forgetting her. Edmund focused more on their studies, thriving to become a doctor. Meeting their best friend in the process, Achlys, in the forest after a rough incident where Edmund’s life was threatened. Achlys warned them the forest was dangurous for humans and took Edmund back to the mansion. When they started highschool, they met Nova, easily becoming fast friends for life. Then in grade 12, Edmund met the siren girl once again. Kira was her name and Edmund pinned for days, building up the courage until harshly meeting Damian. And the story continues from there.
Edmund has no magical abilities, since they are a human. But, Kira lends them the ability to shape any water close by into a sword whenever they please. Nothing else unfortunately. They are super flexible and have high levels of agility to use against any fore in a fight.
dirty blond hair that falls just below the shoulder with natural highlights, often held back with a braided crown. Bright blue eyes that match the ocean. Stubble along their chin and sides of their face. (Okay let this man have a kinda Sapnap stubble alright? Idk how else to explain it, f u) Their nails are almost always painted. Often seen in a striped yellow, orange and red long leave shirt with blue jean shorts and just bellow the knee combat boots.
Edmund is to sweet kind and caring. Shares so much love and compassion for everyone they meet and is always ready to be the comforting person everyone needs. They are most of the time unintentionally hilarious but that just adds to their charm. They’re much more open with their crumbling mental health more often than not and expresses this through rage most of the time. Near the final battle we can see Edmund gain a similar personality and speaking pattern as Kira.

The Wraith (Mara Haine)

The Wraith is a chaos driven energy sucking beast that was created purly on accident. Two gods died creating smudges forcing the wraith into creation. At first it was nothing more than a strange ball of smudges located in the north pole, then the death of god gave it sentience and a shape. Once uncovered by The Writers she was brought up to them and questioned. She was young then, a skinny hairless creature that had a form that seemed to be a clash of different animals and other creatures. The Writers came to the conclusion that they would keep her with them until they could figure something else out. They offered her a name, Mara Haine, and let her roam in wherever gods live. As she did she came face to face with what is known as The Creation Pen. It is a pen that gives the Writers the power to create whatever they want from absolutely nothing. Its a choice, the easy way, but can only be used by the writers(no one knows this. stupid). The Wraith choose to take the pen for herself without the Writers knowing. The two Writers end up sending her back to Hyraith clueless where she learns that she cant use the pen. She rages in her cave and begins planning to build up her strength to take revenge on the gods. She goes to the humans and poisons their minds, spreading hate and anger. She takes the weak and breaks their minds enough to work for her as her minions which builds her strength and begins to break weak monsters. She learns skills and develops them into her own. When the Writers find out they can’t just erase her then they send worthy person after worthy person to somehow defeat her and everytime it failed and she kept growing stronger, and it keeps happening until Kira and Achlys enter.
The Wrraith holds many ablities that aren’t her own. She could be told a magic spell and she’ll instantly know how create it. The only ability that is her own is her ability to trick peoples minds and suck out their anger and hatred to fuel her.
The Wtraith has a very curved Feminie frame that stands at 7 feet. She has long white hair that’s completely shaven off on one side while the other falls below her hips. Her legs look to be normal until past the knee where they look like a shaven wolves hind legs. She has a skinny tail that moves like a cat yet has several spikes in it. She has several sets of horns on her head that look to form a crown of some sort(where the pen is) and pointed ears. Her eyes are bright red while her skin is an ashy grey black colour. Her entire body and face seem sunken in only making it seem as if she’s a skeleton. She wears a tight pair of short shorts and a cropped tank top. What’s most shocking about her appearance is her three pairs of arms. All six of them have long claw like fingers.
The Wraith holds herself to a high standard. She is very self assured yet can be extremely erratic, her actions and words turning like a dime. She is quick to anger but is rational and smart when everything goes against her. She’s also girlypop.

Damian Hellabinder

Damian never had parents. Only himself and one goal in mind. “You are an incubus. A sexual demon that seduces whoever you so please with the intent of death later on. The death gives the underworld known as Hell strength and more numbers. Catch your prey however you see fit, just make sure they walk the path to Hell you guide them to”. And so, that’s exactly what he did. A very young age he manipulated his human form to seem older and He went around sleeping with hundreds, thousands of woman. All from different backgrounds of life, different opinions and different beliefs. And he took each life afterwards. May it be on the spot killing, or planting a virus that slowly eats at them until it explodes. He was known as the Sexual Death Soldier, given to him by his emotionless ways. Not once did he care for the women he fucked, not once did he express anything other than fake smiles and fake pleasures. With this title lead to him being sent to a godlike being in need of assistance. The Wraith. She asked Satan for numbers, xey doubted her so xey sent only Damian. He helped her with her chores in whatever she asked of him. Including helping her in her search for two teenagers that are said to end the Wraith’s life. In this, He managed to make allies with three humans, Kyle Chad and Brad, who cluelessly helped him find easy woman to prey upon. Which lead him to seeing a girl named Kira. He saw her when she walked by him while at a mall with another boy. Something clicked inside at the sight of her. She was different, different in the way she had Damian stopping is his tracks to watch her walk away. He knew then that she would be his next prey. So, like any demon does, he took what he wanted.

Raphael

Before Raphael was one of God’s many arch angels he was a humble man within a village around a million years ago. He lived with a roommate who was secretly know as his lover. Soon the village was destroyed by thefts who burned down their village. Raphael tried to heal and help as many people as he could until he was stabbed. Then he was greated by an Arch Angel saying he was worthy to be known as the Arch Angel of Healing. His lover manged to get dragged into hell and was reborn as a demon. He was very loyal to God as well. Helping with whatever God so pleased. Which spanned from healing a poor believers mind spirit or body to tearing down entire villages who bathed in the arts of hell. In his time as an Arch Angel he met a powerful demon, or his past lover. The the two struggled and fought against countless times, leaving death in their wake and anger in their heart before coming to an agreement. One where as long as they no longer interfere with each other’s plans, they shall leave each other be. After making the agreement, Raphael slowly began to loose importance to God. He no longer seemed to need Raphael’s assistance or abilities. Which lead to Raphael doubting God and growing a burning jealousy towards the other Angels. He started to cause chaos within heavens walls, and blamed it on others. He made deals with countless devils and started to become the complete opposite of The Healing Angel. After some time of doing this, God casted Raphael from the gates of heaven leaving Raphael to be a fallen Angel who just so happened to stumble upon a godlike being known as the Wraith in need of assistance.
Raphael can fly great heights with his large wings. He can use advanced healing techniques and magic on himself and others thanks to his past title of “Angel Of Healing”, and he can manipulate a large golden rope to do whatever he pleases. (Think of Wonder Woman rope without the truth thingy) he also uses a coating spell that hides his black feathers of a Fallen Angel to make them seem white like an Arch Angel.

Absolutely huge white feathery Angel wings that are supposed to be black but uses his magic to hide them. Often seen in dramatic renaissance shirts, ripped jeans and combat boots.
Sassy and snarky is what Raphael is. He acts as if he’s royalty and should be treated as such. He thinks of everyone as lower than him and when someone manages to prove this as false to him he completely crumbles from the exposure.

Nova Ordell

Their parents are part of the wraiths cult. So then they become a big member at young. Parents no love. Wraith showed more attention. Family dynamic between nova, raphael, and the wraith. Damian is creepy uncle that cant see the kdis. Raphael convinced her parents to send her to a catholic school. He was ths the first baby born into wraith cult thingy. They put on a bubbly persona to manipulate people he needs on his side. Met edmund at age 8. Meet Achlys at 11. Instant friends. Slowly starts manipulating Achlys at very young, due to seeing a shapshifter and seeing the tattoo. Once told Wraith, Wraith knew to give them magic and make them second in command along with Damian and Rapheal. At 11 Damian becomes more in her life. At 16 gets promoted to left-hand man of the Wraith.

Charles Umar

Charles grew up in the 1950s and learned the hard way the life he had to live. It was a struggle and at 18 he would be lynched and killed. He would become a Ghost as the last thing he truly wanted was to see the end of racism. That would trap him on this shitty planet. As his unfinished business was vague he was not trapped to one place. He can travel more freely than other ghosts. He would eventually find Will alone on the island and become friends….and then more. They would find Achlys together and accidentally become parents of like 3 crazy children. Lol whoops.
Ghosts all have similar abilities. Charles is lucky as he has a corporeal form and is able to be seen. Other ghosts may only react with objects or make noises. He can go in and out of the ‘Inbetween realm’ which they use to travel. Almost looking like teleportation. It’s how they ‘go through walls’
Charles has a deep umber skin tone. He is of Nigerian decent. His hair is white dreadlocks (bc magic). Dark brown eyes. He is seen in a white shirt sleeved button up and tight fitting green pants, with a think black belt.
Charles is a bit guarded as he wants everyone he cares about to be safe. He also wants them happy so he sometimes makes exceptions. He is extremely protective but has his funny side.

Jupiter Sandu (Jupitune Jisk Sandu)

Jupiter is the father of Kira. Before Kira was born he was a rare type of siren as male siren’s have a 0.01% chance during birth. So plenty of other sirens took advantage of him. He was harassed and mistreated so roughly that he could never stay in one place at once in fear of someone harming him. Through his travels he managed to find himself in the waters of Hyraith where he met Kira’s mother, Deianira. She was a strong fighter and was curious of Jupiter. She spent several days watching him from a distance and Jupiter found it endearing. Then se approached him and asked im why he was in her waters. He shrugs and responds saying it must’ve been fate because she was here. From there on they spent years together in Hyraith’s oceans, neither really making a move just almost existing together. Then Jupiter made the first move and less than a year later Deianira gave birth. It only went down hill from there. Once the eggs were laid she left without so much as a goodbye leaving Jupiter heartbroken and alone with eggs to take care of. Unfortunately once alone again sirens started harassing him once again. So much so that he lost most of his eggs with only Kira left. Jupiter made it his mission from there on out to do everything in his power to make sure that Kira lived one of the greatest lives possible.
Jupiter can sing to control enemies, screeching to distract or harm enemies, he can just barely change between human and siren form, manipulating his appearance in others eyes to what they wish to see, sharp claws and teeth, thick scales, control over any body of liquid (not blood), underwater breathing, and night vision (mostly for underwater use).
Jupiter has brown curly hair with white streaks. In the water he wears a shall made of seaweed while on land he wears a variety of knitted sweaters and long skirts along with sandals.
Jupiter is quite quiet. He is very closed off and very much a people pleaser. Once you get to know him you can see is extremely dark humor and overdramatics.

Sky Sandu (Skyshinlyn Em Sandu)

Sky shares the same mother as Kira but a different father, making the two half sisters. Sky’s mother was a siren and ended up falling in love with a nature nymph, but the gods above didn’t enjoy that very much. So as punishment towards Sky’s mother, Sky was punished with the curse of not being able to leave her designated forested lake area for longer than 24 hours. If she leaves for longer than 24 hours the earth will drag her back to her lake and swallow her whole. So, she grew up alone. Her father leaving off with her mother and her half sister no where to be seen. She never met any other sign of life (other than animals or plants of course) until a centaur by the name of Maple stumbled into her lake. She made fast friends with him and he promised to meet her every other day. Which he did for as long as Sky can remember. Sky only started to leave her lake at the age of 13, but only to search for her sister after years of longing for her. She found Kira one day when she was 14 but Kira seemed to want nothing to do with her since she believes Sky is the reason her mom left. Eventually Kira grows attached to Sky, but never actually expresses that, and visits her often while Sky loves Kira very much.
Sky can control nature however she pleases. (*cough cough* Isabella but like better? *cough cough*) she also can breathe underwater, grow fins on her calves and forearms, and control water thanks to her siren half. She can communicate with animals but can’t control them, just talk with them. A very rare ability, but if Sky is put through enough boiling rage or burning pain she can subconsciously set her entire forested lake on fire.
long messy curled dark brown hair that fades to bright purple. Green skin that she can switch to match Kira’s skin tone, with freckles. Dark brown eyes. Often seen with only bushes of flowers covering her body and vines growing off of her. She has two long antlers that drape own her back.
the absolute sweetest bean you will ever meet. Does not kill, does not swear, does not do drugs, nothing. Only sweet happy bottles of sunshine all the time. But when extremely enraged enough it is probably best to back off… as quickly as possible.

Harper Goodheart

Harper is a famous actress in Hyraith. She often stars in movies and shows produced outside of Hyraith but wraith is her home land. She grew up with her mother and grandmother as her father died as a fire fighter and her grandmother needed constant care. Her childhood years were very welled lived ad nothing out of the ordinary. Well minus the fact that her grandmother was a witch. Because of that Harper was born with witch like abilities. Her grandmother taught her all she knows now like how to control her powers. Alongside that she had her mother put her in acting at a young age allowing her to be where she is now. But the world of acting isn’t as grand as one would think. She does have the brighter side of the acting world but being a closested lesbain in the acting world makes it quite difficult. She likes to hide that side of her by clubbing and finding queer women to have a good time before returning to her life as an actress.

Caitlyn Sandu-Ramos

Caitlyn to be bluntly honest was a accident. He is the child of Kira and Edmund, and how the accident happened was when the two… Y’know, they to not use “protection” just for fun, and they were two different species, but later on Kira was thrown into an unplanned pregnancy with a hard refusal to just kill the child. So Caitlyn was born about three months before the final battle. Kira had no time or responsibility to take care of Caitlyn herself, so she gave Caitlyn to Jupiter with a promise to keep him a secret from everyone. Though she would vist caitlyn as much as she could. She would take him to parks on land while everyone was busy. Caitlyn would spend those three months in a rotation of being underwater for three whole days and spending a week out of water due to him being half siren and half human. Caitlyn never truly knew his parents before each of their deaths. After their deaths, Jupiter sent Caitlyn off to Will, Charles, and Achlys.
Caitlyn gained Kira’s ability to shift into a siren. But that’s it. Just a siren tail, thick scales, sharp claws, underwater breathing and night vision oh and water control.
Short brown hair that fades to red that is styled into a mullet. Light skin with teal freckles dotting their face. Teal green eyes. Often seen with perfect eyeliner. A black t-shirt over top of a orange yellow and red long sleeve. Ripped cargo pants with. A hip chain, seashell necklace, several ear piercings and heeled combat boots. He also wears a gas mask later on ue to him running his lungs.
Caitlyn is full of sarcasm and rage. He feels anger for almost everyone around them. He comes off snarky and hardly caring about someone but deep down he’s just a hurting teenager.

When Rory was born, Rory’s mom ended up dying during childbirth due to a spell cast on her by Damian. Damian’s job is to kill and Damian knew she was going to get pregnant and decided to cast the spell and let it take effect as soon as Rory was born. So instantly Rory was thrown into orphanages and foster homes until at the age of ten were he set a tree of fire with his hybrid demon powers. He was kicked out for being not just a demon but an incubus. As soon as he was kicked out he decided to look for his father. He found clue after clue until he found his abandoned apartment and found one person that Damian knew very well; Kira. So in search of Kira he finds her son Caitlyn who tells him that she died and so did his father. Ror decides to take residence with Caitlyn and his makeshift family of monsters and hybrids from then on. He strives to be far better than his father in every way.
Rory being half demon can summon only swords, chains, daggers and axes on command whenever he so pleases. He can also brainwash weak minded humans (ex. Drunk people, mentally struggling people etc.) into allowing him whatever he wants with his flirtatious actions, though he prefers to stay away from those.
Rory has blenched white hair with light brown eyes and pinkish skin and clean shaven face. He is often seen in loose fitting pants and baggy hoodies.
Rory is a determined person yet very nervous and quiet though he can pack a mean punch when fighting. (sown when he almost kills Caitlyn)

Briscoe was born in a poor household. He worked at a young age and any money he had went to the family for rent or food. His mother and father tried everything to keep a roof over their head and with that are extremely protective over Briscoe. While all of this was happening Briscoe was obsessed with Disney Princesses. His parents would buy him cheap dresses with crowns and he loved it, though the tried to keep him in your stereotype boy clothes when going to school for his own satfey. He didn’t notice entirely until his middle school years where we started choosing his own clothing, that being skirts and dresses. He got made fun of Of course but now he dresses however he wants freely. Now a days He’s learning how to dress in drag with a drag mother who he met upon stumbling to a comedy show. With this his Parents are even for protective.
Briscoe is human. He has to magic.
Briscoe has light brown side swept hair with fair skin and blue eyes. He’s often seen with a white crop top that reads ‘daddy’ and a pink skirt along with pink heeled knee high boots.

Sirens were once the natives of Hyraith, mermaids being their underwater cousins. Sirens were able to breathe underwater but not enough to properly live underwater as they used to be covered in feathers until humans came and sirens were forced into the waves. Then mermaids and sirens fought for years as sirens evolved to be able to live at the bottom of the waves.

Charles' nickname for Achlys is “My deer” as a hint that they originally met Achlys as a deer. Will’s “bear cub” for child Achlys would huddle in corners as a bear cub. Achlys will later use these nicknames on Caitlyn and Cub.
