I don’t like my face
I don’t think I ever have
And wow, shocking
A woman in this society not liking her face?
Old
Lame
Seen it before
No woman likes their face or their looks
But what can I say?
Following the grain
Regardless, I don’t like my face
It’s a rather funny concept because when taking apart each feature
I tend to like them
To a degree
I think the brown is my eyes is fresh
My nose is cute and perfectly shaped like a cartoon
Thin eyebrows that don’t betray me often or really at all
Round cheeks
Maybe only my lips hate me but even then that’s a stretch
So how could I not like my face when all good features are put together?
I’m not sure
I really don’t know
There’s no good reason
Especially when considering my beliefs
I believe everyone is beautiful
Body positivity and all that
And yet, I don’t like my face
Or maybe I just don’t like what looks back when I’m in front a mirror or when I see a photo
There’s something off when I do
One glance and it’s fine
But I stare too long and suddenly my face becomes…
Misshapen
It shifts
All of it
I can’t even explain it very well
All I know is it just happens and I don’t enjoy it
So I will do whatever it takes to cover it
Whatever it is just so i don’t chance the encounter of seeing it in its raw form
Just so others don’t chance it either
I fear others also visualize the same situation when perceiving my face
The hiding is to protect myself and ward of others
Because what if they see that too?
Surely that’s bound to scare them off just as it does me
And so, the scribble
Oh, how I love the scribble
It’s profound, it’s mouldable, and it can even be branded
No matter the situation, I can remove my face with a glob of scribbles
I save myself from being jump scared whenever I look at my account
And I save others from ever perceiving me
What a happy medium!
So, I hide behind the scribble
At any given chance
I search photos and videos high and low to grantee the scribble stays
And I think I physically panic when seeing others post without a care
So when i ask “scribble please”
I am only doing both of us a favour
