Me, Myself, And I

I may be young and dumb

And I don’t… understand many things

Can’t fathom or properly grasp subjects

But I do know one thing

There are more pressing matters than your picture-perfect family , your unchanging harmful opinions, lying news coverage, or you’re government that lies more often than saves

The world is falling faster and faster 

It has gone past the point to where we could’ve caught it

And even then, when the alarms and sirens were ringing, blaring in our ears, we let the world fall beneath our fingers and so-called watchful gaze

All we watch is the numbers in what we want rise 

Not the ones that shouldn’t be rising

One 

One hundred 

One thousand 

One million 

One billion 

One trillion 

Lives ended?

Natural disasters? 

Rights taken from us?

No no and no

Its cash

Its power

Up up up

Higher higher higher

Greedier greedier greedier 

Buy buy buy

Sell sell sell

Trash trash trash  

Burn burn burn

It’s a cycle 

One that we’ve done countless times

Make, buy, consume, trash

And we just never seem to stop

Maybe for one person for a week or so just so they can sound like a good person with their loads on top of loads of cash and crap they never use but have as a way to brag to others

Or that oh so reliable and honest content creator that donated all of the funds earned to this sweet old charity!

Only to find that charity doesn’t even exist 

That’s not what this is about 

Are you even happy like that?

Maybe you are

But you’re also sick and twisted 

Oh but you donate a dollar to the local church once a week meaning that you’re automatically a good human being

Doing that pushes away that fact that you helped further take away the rights of innocent people just trying to survive 

Maybe it was because they were so called indoctrinating the children 

Ha, as if 

Okay listen, yeah I’m not saying I’m a good person either

We’re all terrible people

We all have our own sins in our belt that we hold close in order to not share with everyone 

At least I admit I’m terrible 

What about you?

You and your superiority complex 

Your old ideology that outdated even the old textbooks

Your idea that you can control us, forbid us from our very own existence 

It’s flawed 

All of it

All of us

What im trying to say is that we all collectively need to get our greedy, selfish heads out of our rear ends and work to make this place better

Here and now

Don’t just act before thinking of the consequences this could have on us or even our own children and grandchildren 

Don’t save it for my generation or the next one to “fix it”

We can’t handle that pressure 

Being told that “oh this doesn’t effect me now. The next generation can fix it if they wish!”

No, we can’t 

At this rate, I believe we are more screwed than we ever have been before

I believe that half of us won’t even survive the fall 

And it’s all because no one is opening their eyes 

No one is realising that taking away our right to abortion allows abusers to win

No one is realising taking away our right to trans healthcare and rights doesn’t save us but kills us

No one is realising that we are the cause of the increase in the earth’s temperature, the cause of climate change 

No one is realising that not taking away gun laws is what causes the unsafe environment for schools 

No one is realising that thousands of innocent people are dying all across the world and nothing is being done

Or maybe they are

But they really can’t find it in themselves to care

Because who cares?

It’ll all work out in the end

As long as I don’t pay much mind or attention to the issues crumbling beneath my feet it’ll be fine

As long as i don’t pay much mind to the people suffering and screaming into the void

I can stay happy!

Other people can worry about that

If I just keep spending and wasting my worth on stuff that will only get thrown out a week later 

I can stay happy!
