For purposes of revitalizing our library services and strengthening research support for scholars we are working to develop better reference service. The library can also assist in specific-source/ website search or give a virtual presentation at your most convenient time.
A library user includes all the members of the scholars and staff of the Oriental Institute (OI) or anyone outside OI with valid identification card. He/ she can avail of the library services.
An acceptable means of personal identification is a valid identity pass or other valid means of identification by means of which users and visitors can prove their identity and be accepted by the OI Library. This is not required for OI Scholars
Users have the right to use the library resources and avail of library services provided to the public, this either in person n, over the Internet, telephone, etc. under the conditions stipulated in these Library Rules and Procedures.
Visitors can use all books, serials, non-print materials and e-resources in the Library with the assistance of a Library staff on duty.
1. Uživateli knihovny, kteří mouhou využívat knihovnické služby, jsou všichni výzkumní pracovníci a další zaměstnanci Orientálního ústavu nebo kdokoli vně ústavu s platným osobním dokladem.
2. Přípustným osobním dokladem je platný občanský průkaz nebo jiný doklad, na jehož základě mohou návštěvníci knihovny doložit svou totožnost. Tato podmínka se nevztahuje na zaměstnance Orientálního ústavu.
3. Uživatelé mají právo využívat knihovní zdroje a knihovnické služby poskytované veřejnosti a to buď osobně, elektronicky, telefonicky, atd. podle zde ustanovených podmínek.
4. Návštěvníci mohou využívat všechny knihy, časopisy, netištěné materiály a elektronické zdroje v knihovně za asistence službu konajícího pracovníka knihovny.
Users and visitors are obliged to observe the Library Regulations, to follow the instructions of members of OI Library staff and security staff.
The user or visitor is responsible for any damage caused to Library property to the extent stipulated in the Library Regulations and the pertinent provisions of the Civil Code.
Users and visitors will forfeit their privileges to use the Library if they violate the Library Regulations and, in particular:
if they do not use the library in accordance with their intended purpose (e.g. smoking, vandalism),
if their behaviour disturbs, interferes with or otherwise inconveniences others
if they are under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, and
if they pose a threat to the health or safety of other persons present on the Library premises, in particular other users and visitors and Library staff,
Any user/s or visitor/s violating the Library Regulations will be notified of this fact by the staff of the Library and requested to refrain from the given violation immediately. Should a user or visitor fail to respect such a notification, he or she will be requested to leave the Library premises.
In the case of repeated violation of the Library Regulations, the staff of the Library have the right to deny the visitor in question the provision of Library services for a period of six months and to block the user’s user account and discontinue the provision of Library services for a period of six months. Should the user or visitor in question again violate the Library Regulations following the expiry of this six-month period in which Library services are discontinued, his or her right to use Library services may be revoked permanently.
The right to use Library services being revoked on a temporary or permanent basis does not relieve the user or visitor in question of the responsibility and obligation of paying for any damage caused and paying other debts in respect of the Library in accordance with these Library Regulations and valid legal regulations. Should a user or visitor be suspected of having committed a criminal act on Library premises, he or she is obliged to await the arrival of the Police of the Czech Republic and to follow the instructions of Library staff and security staff during this time.
Users and visitors who do not leave their outer garments and bags in the attended cloakroom or the lockers located in the cloakroom agree to the fact that they are obliged to allow an inspection of the contents of their bags, their outer garments and the personal effects they take into the Library if so requested by members of Library staff or security staff. Should a user or visitor refuse to submit to such an inspection of his or her bags, outer garments and personal effects when asked to do so by a member of Library staff or security staff, the Police of the Czech Republic will be called to perform such an inspection. The user or visitor in question is obliged to await the arrival of the police and to follow the instructions of Library staff and security staff during this time.
Users and visitors are obliged to turn off all sound signals, vibrations and other noises on their mobile phones and any other devices before entering the Library. Users and visitors must not disturb or inconvenience other persons present by talking or holding telephone conversations in the quite zone.
Consumption of food and drinks is prohibited in the quite zone.
At the moment, there is no area available to users and visitors for louder conversations, including telephone conversations, and the consumption of food and non-alcoholic drinks. hence, we encourage library users to take calls or louder conversations outside the library.
When using Library equipment, users and visitors are obliged to follow instructions displayed and/ or the instructions of Library staff.
Users and visitors are obliged to present all the documents they are taking with them for inspection before leaving the Library when requested to do so by Library staff or security staff. Taking documents out of the Library without permission or attempting to do so is considered a violation of the Library Regulations.
For those who want to check out books for a certain period, the following requirements apply:
The borrower must be residing in the Czech Republic.
For non-Czech, the borrower must present a valid passport and must provide a working email and/or mobile number or any contact information that is most convenient to reach.
Only books are allowed for loans, on the following conditions:
OI researcher fellows and staff are allowed to borrow for a maximum of six (6) months which can be renewed. For research purposes, at the discretion of the Librarian, the number of titles to be borrowed might be increased or the period extended for special considerations.
For non-OI members, Czech nationals or long-term or permanent residents the Czech Republic can borrow up to five (5) titles for one (1) month.
Loaned materials can be renewed for as long as there are no other requests to borrow the same title and copy. After two renewals, the borrower is requested to bring the physical copy of the book.
Books can be recalled after one week if an urgent and important request is made by another library user. Recalled books that are not returned on the date set will be fined as overdue book.
For those who will be out of the country for more than six (6) months, they must return the books before leaving the country.
Overdue books are fined at 10 Kc/ work day but at the discretion of the Head Librarian/ Librarian-in-charge, the fine can be waived for valid reasons.
Borrowers' right to renew or borrow library materials can be forfeited if the loan is overdue.
When an OI scholar is permanently leaving the institute, there must be a document issued from the library proving that he/ she has returned all library materials borrowed which must be provided to the HR.
Archival materials or books considered of rare value or books copyrighted 1940 or earlier shall not be taken out of the library.
A library user can send a Loan request for library material which can be picked up within one week.
Půjčují se pouze knihy za následujících podmínek:
1 Výzkumní pracovníci a další zaměstnanci Orientálního ústavu si mohou vypůjčit do 10 titulů na maximální dobu 6 měsíců. Tato lhůta může být prodloužena. Z výzkumných důvodů mohou být z rozhodnutí knihovníka počet titulů a výpůjční doba navýšeny.
Co se nečlenů Orientálního ústavu týče, občané České republiky nebo cizí státní příslušníci s dlouhodobým pobytem si mohou vypůjčit do 5 titulů na maximální dobu 1 měsíce. Vypůjčené materiály mohou být prodlouženy, pokud na ně neexistuje rezervace.
Knihy mohou být z vážných důvodů rezervovány jiným čtenářem po uplynutí jednoho týdne od původní výpůjčky. Za rezervované tituly, které nebudou vráceny do stanoveného data, bude účtováno zpozdné jako za nevrácené knihy.
Za knihy nevrácené ve výpůjční lhůtě bude účtováno 10 Kč za každý pracovní den. Z rozhodnutí vedoucího knihovníka nebo knihovníka konajícího službu může být tato pokuta z oprávněných důvodů prominuta.
Čtenářovi může být odebráno právo prodlužovat a půjčovat si materiály, pokud mu nabíhá zpozdné.
2. Archivní materiály, vzácné tisky a knihy vydané před rokem 1940 nesmějí opustit knihovnu.
3. Čtenář je oprávněn poslat výpůjční požadavek na vybraný titul, jenž bude k vyzvednutí do jednoho týdne.
Doručení dokumentu skrze Meziknihovní výpůjční službu je jednou ze služeb poskytovaných knihovnou OÚ pro získávání zdrojů, jež nejsou obsaženy v knihovně. Podle platných směrnic ČR mohou zprostředkovat Meziknihovní výpůjční službu pouze vybrané knihovny. Pro OÚ je to Knihovna Akademie věd České republiky (KNAV).
1. Meziknihovní výpůjční službu mohou využívat pouze výzkumní pracovníci OÚ.
2. Když knihovna OÚ nemá k dispozici nebo nevlastní požadovaný zdroj, čtenář si titul může vyžádat z jiné knihovny tím, že vyplní požadavek na meziknihovní výpůjční službu zasláním emailu na adresu oilib@orient.cas.cz.
3. Pracovník knihovny se pokusí vyhledat požadovaný zdroj přes internet a zkontroluje možnosti jiného získání daného titulu, např. skrze akvizici na vyžádání. Jakmile je ověřeno, že material není k dispozici, požadavek bude postoupen KNAV.
4. Požadavek by měl být splněn 3 týdny až 3 měsíce od doručení.
5. Pracovník knihovny, jenž má na starosti meziknihovní výpůjční službu, bude podávat aktuální informace ohledně požadavku.
