Matilde Cittadini - Prácticas en la UB - 2020-2021

My name is Matilde Cittadini. I’m in the 2nd year of the master’s degree ‘European and Global Studies’ at the University of Padua (Italy) and I did an internship at the University of Barcelona within the research project POLBIS (The Politics and Policy of Basic Income Schemes: Lessons from Italian and European Cases) in the second semester of 2020-2021. This project is led by the Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies at the University of Padua, and financed by the Cariparo Foundation under the grant ‘Scientific Research of Excellence 2018’.

POLBIS investigates the minimum Income scheme implemented in Italy –namely, the Citizenship Income– and its results in the Veneto Region. It also analyses the pilot project implemented in Utrecht Weten wat werk and the B-MINCOME experiment in Barcelona. If you would like to know more about the project, please click on POLBIS.

Thanks to the opportunity I was granted to participate in the project as an intern, I had the possibility to delve into the study of the B-MINCOME pilot project implemented by Barcelona and to join the renowned academic department of Social Work at the Faculty of Education of the University of Barcelona (UB).

My work within this internship was coordinated and supervised by Dr. Giorgia Nesti and Dr. Matteo Bassoli at the University of Padua, and by Dr. Manuel Aguillar Hendrickson at UB’s Faculty of Education.

My role in this project consisted in gathering and analyzing documents and data produced by the various actors involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the B-MINCOME.

I am grateful for this great internship provided to me by the POLBIS research team, my home University, and the University of Barcelona. Thanks to this internship, I was able to have work experience in a dynamic and stimulating international work environment, which also gave me a better understanding of scientific research and the academic world. Moreover, the internship enriched me both at the professional and personal levels, as I could improve my knowledge of the Spanish language and become familiar with the Catalan language and culture.
