According to a local tradition, the instrument was a gift from Queen Blanche of Castile, mother of Saint Louis.
An inscription engraved on the escutcheon of the largest of the facade pipes reads: "This organ was made by François Du Castel, a native of Ableville organ builder ... in Lannee 1664." Which seems to indicate the original maker of this organ.
The lower lip of this same pipe mentions a lifting by Alexandre LAURENT in 1690.
The inscriptions of the names of organists do not go back until 1609, until a Julien de Lacourcelle who died in 1832. When he died, the organ was abandoned.
In 2001, the reconstruction of the organ was undertaken by Michel GIROUD http://www.orgues-giroud.com/ from the registers of the old box spring which was restored and on which he found engraved traces and inscriptions giving the diameter of the pipes. Thus he was able to reconstruct the characteristics of the old piping.
