Orgo Essentials is a Girl Scout Gold Award Project started by Rachel Chubb. The goal of this project is to make organic chemistry a more approachable, accessible subject, especially to female students interested in medicine or research. Organic chemistry is absolutely essential, and it often gets a bad rap as impossible or incomprehensible. Orgo Essentials is here to show you that orgo can instead be perfectly beautiful.
Below is a list of the topics to be covered in this project. Note that these tutorials are simply meant to provide an organic chemistry foundation and to pique curiosity. They are no replacement for a true organic chemistry class.
Lewis structures
Resonance
Molecular Shapes
Hybridization
Electronegativity
Functional Groups
Alkane Nomenclature
Alkanes
Cycloalkanes
Alkenes
Aklynes
And more!
This project also includes the Make Yourself Heard series, a video series about role models in chemistry. For more information about this series, click here.
