The program is geared primarily toward Kindergarten, First and Second Grade students. However, we have created a set of 20 bags for third and fourth graders, if they would like to continue working toward the 1000 book milestone.
We include a variety of picture books, including fiction and non-fiction. For the Kindergarten through Second grade bags, the majority of the books will be at the first grade reading level, with a couple of Kindergarten and Second grade reading level books.
The Third and Fourth grade bags include a chapter book and a mix of higher level picture books, ranging from the third through fifth grade reading levels.
No! Book Club is absolutely free to participate in, thanks to funding by the PTA.
Please let us know if your child loses a bag, as we may be able to track it down, or at the very least, don't continue to send you reminders to return the bag. And although we check the bags as they are returned, sometimes a bag goes out with a damaged or missing book. If you discover a problem with a book, please let us know so we can set the bag aside when it is returned.
For any book or bag related issues, please send an email to orenda1000bookclub@gmail.com. Please include your child's name, the bag number, and the name of the book (if known).
We appreciate donations of high quality books, in good condition, at a variety of reading levels. Please send an email to orenda1000bookclub@gmail.com if you'd like to make a donation.
Yes! We are always in need of parent volunteers to staff the book club. Please send an email to orenda1000bookclub@gmail.com for more information.
