Aging and People with Disabilities

Community Services and Supports Unit

The State Plan on Aging guides how older adults, their families, and unpaid caregivers are supported through programs funded by the Older Americans Act (OAA) in Oregon. The current state plan is in place until September 2026. APD must create a new plan and send it to the federal Administration on Aging for review and approval by July 1, 2026. The new plan will be in place from October 2026 through September 2030. 

It’s our first official annual Coalition business meeting as an AGE+ fiscally sponsored entity! We will elect our Advisory Committee members, review, and update the By-Laws.

Anchored in rural Oregon, Eastern Oregon Center for Independent Living, EOCIL, serves 16 counties - Baker, Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Hood River, Jefferson, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, Wasco, and Wheeler—with multiple offices in Ontario (corporate headquarters), La Grande, Pendleton, Redmond, Burns, and The Dalles. 

From its beginnings as a bold, community-led vision, EOCIL has grown into a global cross-disability resource and advocacy center while advancing the Independent Living philosophy and the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) worldwide.
