Introduction:
We, the Order of Charmed Spirits, are an eclectic, neo-pagan Order of magickal practitioners who practice a unique blend of traditional and ceremonial magick that we
call the Sanatorian Path. Loosely translated, it means “The Healer’s Path,” as Sanatore, my chosen spirit name, means “healer.” This path has been named after me, by the other
members of our High Council, in honor of the hard work and dedication I have put into creating this path and maintaining its success and growth. This is my Divine calling and
spiritual duty. It is not something I do for fun and/or accolades. My husband, Nuncius, (his chosen spirit name) a truly gifted psychic medium, and I met and began this
organization many years ago and it is still going strong, growing in leaps and bounds, thanks to the help of our very dear friend and gifted psychic medium, Amante, (his
chosen spirit name), and both mine and my husband’s spirit guides, Woyi and Riva respectively.
Although we have evolved over the years, the one thing that remains constant is our commitment to providing a unified group mind and family experience, while at the same
time, encouraging individual growth, understanding, and expression. We do not recognize any set patron deities within the Order of Charmed Spirits. Instead, we tend to
work with titles such as Divine Mother and Father in our rituals and ceremonies. We have done this intentionally as we believe that we must define for ourselves how we
envision the Gods, Goddesses, and Guardians.
Our Mission:
The purpose of our Order is to bring eclectic practitioners together to:
Membership into our Order, as well as, all classes and courses are completely free. Love offerings are always welcomed but never demanded or expected. You will be asked to
purchase the material that we will use to make your required ritual robe at the end of your apprenticeship should you decide to take the next step and become an Order
member, but that process is quite a bit further down the road and should be, unless something changes in the interim, less than $20. We accept any open-minded individual over the age of 18 interested in joining our Order regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual-orientation.
The Sanatorian Path:
Within the Sanatorian Path, loosely translated as the “Healer’s Path,” we define the word “w.i.t.c.h.” as a “Wise Individual that Chooses Humility.” Sanatorian practitioners
are not all witches, however. They are magickal practitioners from many paths, walks, faiths, and practices who have, or are willing to dedicate their lives to the service of their
chosen Divine being(s) and to helping and healing all life to the best of their ability. To be as the Cunning Folk of antiquity and be the ones that others come to when in need of
healing, spiritual guidance, and the removal of malevolent magick. This is not a path for those who take the lives of living things for their own personal gain and use the Craft to
harm others. Sanatorian practitioners do not have to identify as neither white nor dark, but should strive to find a great balance between the two as that is where true power
lies within every single one of us. Those who choose to follow the Sanatorian Path should always strive to keep a pure and Divine heart with intentions on always helping
others, and should strive to keep a good moral compass, while at the same time, know how to help and be willing to defend, without bringing harm, those who have found
themselves the target of malevolent intentions, whether magickal or mundane.
The Sanatorian Path is an eclectic, neo-pagan, nature based form of spirituality and Sanatorian practitioners should be able to see and recognize the Divine presence in all of
Nature and work to honor that Divine presence with all their words, actions, and deeds. Our Sabbat rituals and celebrations, the traditional “Pagan” Wheel of the Year, are
utilized to help us attune with the cycles of the seasons, and the cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth and are viewed within the Sanatorian Path as a celebration of the dance
between the Sun (“God Energy”), and the Earth (“Goddess Energy”) through which all life here on this planet depends for survival. It is this dance that creates and sustains all
physical life as we know it.
Laws & Rules:
All members of the Order of Charmed Spirits are governed by these laws and rules regardless of initiatory status. Laws and rules are written or amended as needed and so
this list is constantly growing and changing as we live and experience situations and circumstances that need to be mentioned here.
We expect all of our members and guests to retain an ethical sense of decorum during our events and gatherings. In order for us to maintain a peaceful, relaxed, non-offensive atmosphere conducive to adult conversations and discussions, we ask our members and guests to abide by the following:
All of this comes down to simple etiquette, manners, and common courtesy. Just be mindful of your surroundings, actions, and words, and do what you can to make others
feel comfortable and welcome to our gatherings and events. If you do get offended or put out by someone’s actions or lack of manners, please, privately let the leaders of the
Order know, and we will immediately handle it in the proper manner as to remedy the issue.
Membership Requirements:
Those who complete the apprenticeship program and are chosen by the High Council for membership into the Order (should they decide to accept), will be asked to volunteer
their time. We do not ask for club dues from our members or apprentices so in exchange, we ask that members and apprentices volunteer their time to help out with
larger events. “It takes a village” - so the saying goes. If you are simply unable to help out by volunteering your time, then a kind gesture would be to make some small annual
donations here or there if you are able to. However, as was mentioned earlier, love donations are always accepted but never demanded.
The Sacred Circle:
We view the Sacred Circle as something very guarded within our Order and it is not to be taken lightly. In our path, it is our time to converse with the Divine. It is not a place
for us to laugh, dance and make jokes. It is a very humbling and most often emotional experience where we stand with and petition Divine beings to assist us in our magickal
workings, and to show our respect and gratitude to them. Now don’t take this wrong, we definitely enjoy laughing, dancing, and jokes, but we feel there is a time and a place for
these events and for us it is not in our ritual circle. While in our ritual circle we share energies with our fellow Order members so it is extremely important that we are
comfortable with each other and more importantly with each other’s energy.
Words of Wisdom:
As a group we only practice the Craft in light and love and we encourage all our members to do the same within their own personal practices. What you sow, you will
reap, and as light workers it is our duty to try to prevent others from suffering when and where we can. We do not judge those of other paths but rather offer them love and aid.
We believe that even though most magickal practitioners are not Christians, they should not be anti-Christian either. Magickal practitioners should not be anti-any path or
religion, for there is truth in them all, and we would ask the same respect of all other paths to be accepting of ours.
Settling Disputes:
If members have disagreements with each other, those must be properly addressed. Members are expected to attempt to resolve any conflicts between themselves. If issues
remain unresolved, they are expected to engage the Elders of the High Council who will assist in resolving the conflicts. We must strive to be able to always enter the circle in
light and love and in the complete trust of all members in the circle with us.
How New Laws are Implemented or Amended:
As the Order grows, new laws and rules will be implemented or amended as needed. Proposed changes to our laws and rules will be discussed among the members of the
High Council before any changes are made, and any change must be implemented only with a High Council majority vote.
Leaving the Order and Reinstating After Removal:
The Order of Charmed Spirits is a life-long and beyond commitment, as long as the Order doesn’t remove you for poor conduct. Even if we never see you again, in this
lifetime, you will always be considered a member within the Order, as long as you have completed the Apprenticeship Program and have taken the membership oath. This
extends even into death and beyond. The exception to this rule is: if you tell the High Council yourself that you wish to be removed from the Order, then, at that time, you will
no longer be considered a member of the Order of Charmed Spirits. The only things that will remain are your spirit name in our transcripts, and any photographs of you that had
been posted, with permission, on our social media during the time of your membership.
If a member is removed from the Order for conduct unbecoming, they must wait one year before returning to the Order. After that time, if they wish to return, and if they
have corrected the offense in the eyes of the High Council, they may participate in the apprentice forum for a one year probationary period. If, after this probationary period,
things have gone smoothly and trust has been regained, then at that time, they will need to sit with the High Council and go over the Order’s by-laws in case new rules or
amendments have been made in their absence and they must renew and re-sign the Order of Charmed Spirits Apprentice Oath in front of the High Council. Once this has
been done, they may be reinstated as an outer court member, and must spend a year in the outer court before even being considered a candidate for inner court. This person,
should they make it back into the inner court, will be stripped of all seniority they had before the removal and will be the inner court member with the least amount of
seniority at the time of them re-entering the inner court.
Becoming an Elder/Inner Court:
Anyone in the outer court can make the decision to begin their inner court studies at anytime they wish. This course of study is a very deep commitment to the Order. This is
the path for those who wish to become Elders and teachers of the Sanatorian Path; those who wish to lead their own group rituals within the Sanatorian structure someday.
Once this course of study is completed, then, and only then, will you have the blessings, support and resources of the Order of Charmed Spirits to hive off and create a
Sanatorian based Order of your own.
Gender:
Within our Order we view everyone as having both male and female attributes. We are not limited by our physical gender. Our Order is very open and accepting to all including
straight, gay, bi, lesbian, transgendered and epicene individuals. Within our Order, typically men are priests and women priestesses, but should you identify as neither priest nor priestess because you are gender non-conforming, then we will refer to you as an “Epicene” - which means “having characteristics of both sexes or no characteristics of either sex; of indeterminate sex.”
Our gender has absolutely no bearing on progression within our Order, as our Order progresses in a single file fashion where all offices can be held by all genders, rather than
parallel, gender-specific offices as is found in a great deal of Wicca and other paths.
Levels of Initiation:
Our Order has three levels of initiation and those are as follows:
There is also the High Council which is the governing body of the Order, that is always the eldest three elders (meaning seniority, not age) of the inner court (so long as these
three are able to fulfill their duties and are present and active within the Order). This High Council is typically the founding member(s) and others that they elect. These
individuals, which in new Orders, would be the first three members, are the only members of the Order who have the authority to make and amend laws and rules for the
Order or to change the status of anyone’s membership. These members must vote on these changes and run with a majority rule.
Becoming High Council:
The High Council may have substitute members from the inner court fill in for High Council members who are absent during an event or ritual, but no High Council
substitute has the authority to implement or amend rules and laws or change the status of, or remove, any member from the Order. That can only be done by the true, active,
High Council with the majority vote.
Even though these High Council members do not have specific titles, to help put things in perspective, the eldest (seniority) member of the High Council would be equivalent to
a High Priest or High Priestess that is often found in other paths and traditions. In our Order, you may only have one or the other, not both, as our progression works in a single
file fashion as mentioned earlier. The second eldest (seniority) member of the High Council who’d be equivalent to a High Priest or Priestess in waiting, and once again, you may
have only one or the other, not both. The third eldest (seniority) member of the High Council would be equivalent to a Summoner or Maiden that is often found in other paths
and traditions. In our Order, once again, you may only have one or the other, not both, as our progression works in a single file fashion. If something were to happen to any of
these members, then the next (seniority) members would step up to take their place and so on and so forth.
Apprenticeship Oath:
If everything you read above seems like it would be a fit for you, and you feel as though you would still like to pursue an apprenticeship with us, I will need to make sure that
you would be okay with taking the following oath in the presence of the Order of Charmed Spirits High Council.
“I take this path of my own freewill
And from this day forth will strive to harm none.
I aim to increase and pass on my knowledge and wisdom
And will correct misconceptions about the craft.
I will cast no spell in anger
And I promise to keep the identity of Order members Secret,
To protect them from harm.
To use the craft in love and for good.
To hide what should be hidden,
To witness to what should be shown,
And to love and seek the truth for all my days.
So mote it be.”
