Wood is the start of every survivalist's journey. You will encounter very strange mushrooms and fungi in your journeys but you can make decent wooden tools out of all of them.
Blackstone is more robust than Limestone, Scoria, or Soul Stone so you can carve it into shapes useful for tools. You'll find it more commonly toward the bottom of the world.
Sunstone is a glowing gemstone with properties of resurrection and restoration. Is crucial for creating Respawn Anchors and Beacons.
Moonstone is a cold, smooth gemstone with powers of enchantment and teleportation. Use it to create a Soul Chest, an Enchanting Table, and Power Relays for the Table.
Crying Obsidian is a very hard but magically active block. Combining it with the powers of the Moonstones or Soulstones can lead to powerful results.
Carnelium is a sturdy metal. Good for armor but not tools. You'll find rich and poor deposits in the Basalt Deltas. Many mechanical blocks require Carnelium in their construction.
Anirrum was a powerful metal forged long ago by Humans. Scraps of it can be scavenged from the Soul Sand Valleys with a shovel or from the Ancient warriors that still wear it as armor. You'll need to melt it down with superheated souls to get any use out of the scraps, however.
Nihiline is a dense and powerful alloy of heavy scrap metal from the Scrap Pits and Carnelium Ingots. It has an extremely high melting point and can be used to create the strongest weapons and armor currently documented.
