40'x250' Narrow and long was the challenge, diverse and ecologically friendly was the mission. No bugs or birds to speak of in this picture, unsuitable to hosting most wildlife and visually unappealing. I took a couple courses offered by the OSU Extension about farming and went to work!
Removed a few trees and planted about 50 more at this point. Most pathways were mulched also, gardens beds were planned out, situated, and gaining organic matter each season. Added 'Tree Steward' and 'Master Rain Gardener' certifications to my accomplishments.
Hundreds of trees and shrubs planted, native perennials added throughout. Ponds, swales, and rain barrels dotted across the landscape. Ducks and Chickens constantly moving around, keeping pests at bay, and providing our family with eggs. Today it is visually interesting everywhere you look. We are still thoughtfully cultivating a more productive and beautiful plot each year based on permaculture design and natural principles. Birds, bugs, and other creatures abound in all of the new habitat created . We grow food for our family, and when we have enough, we share with our community. Now we would like to share our knowledge and plants with the community, so let us know how we can help!

$300 and up depending on size. A rain garden is a natural depression of earth planted with native water loving plants that help filter, slow, and spread out storm-water. Typically absorbs storm water from a home or garage downspout. Adding one to your landscape will invite birds, bugs, and people to admire, and serve a noble purpose cleaning our waterways and reducing storm water runoff
