The Youth Club Championships, hosted by USA Ultimate, will take place in Aurora, CO on August 2-4.
Check out the YCC website for more information!
Different teams will naturally have different visions, energies, and coaching styles.
We think that every player should find a 'best fit' team for her/them and we hope that Orcas is a best fit for you!
If you attend Orcas tryouts and experience our vision, energy, and coaching style and it doesn't feel like a best fit for you, we encourage you to check out the Seven Hills Ultimate program.
We invite you to tryout for Orcas if you are a rising 7th through 11th grader. However, you must be under 17 to be eligible to compete in the U17 division.
Alison Byerly once said, "Learning requires an environment of trust and belonging, where everyone feels valued and can show up as their full selves."
As coaches, we hold that belief in the forefront as we form this team.
We ask players what they need in order to build this type of environment and team culture and player perspective guides our Orcas community - players, coaches, families - in our collective commitment to meet these needs to the best of our ability.
This will be Kerry's second year coaching Orcas U17 Gx; Kerry also coached at Jane Addams Middle School. Kerry is a mixed division club player in Seattle.
This will be Kent's second year coaching Orcas U17 Gx; Kent also coached at Hazel Wolf and Jane Addams Middle School. Kent's teams at JAMS won the DiscNW league championships in the fall and winter, as well as Spring Reign.
Jimmy has been coaching elementary (The Little School), middle and high school (Evergreen School and Lakeside HS Gx), college (Carleton College and UCLA) and club for the past 20 years. He is a 7-time national champion, having won in five different divisions - HS, college, club open, club mixed, club masters.
Orcas will finalize the 2025 YCC team roster by May 7th.
We plan to have two teambuilding days in May, and practices will begin in June after the DiscNW spring HS Gx league ends.
The team will practice 3 times a week through June and July. Days, times, locations are TBD, though...
We are trying to reserve fields that are a few blocks from link light rail and we imagine weekday practices will look something like 5pm-7pm and weekend practices 10am-12:30pm.
The team will have breaks for R&R and family time. July 4th weekend and July 18-21.
We are working very hard to keep the cost of the summer season (including travel) at or below $1800.
Financial assistance will be available and we will be doing team fundraising.
