Landscape of Practice

Why a "Landscape of Practice?" The term is taken from the field of education and seeks to respect two things: (1) We work in a field that is continuing to evolve and mature, much like a landscape; and (2) we are seeking to integrate a number of different types of practitioners within the wider landscape that represents orality in Bible translation. Examples of these practitioner communities include: OBT and OBS Trainers, Translation Consultants, exegetical support roles, project developers and managers, technical support roles, and others. Each type of practitioner has a unique role to play and a unique perspective to bring, but we interact with one another at various times and in various ways like the elements within a larger landscape. It is our hope that, over time, practitioners of like mind will also start communities of practice to share knowledge specific to the role and responsibilities of each while remaining engaged with the broader landscape encompassing the different communities.
