Each initial visit will begin with a comprehensive oral hygiene exam. I will go through your medical and dental history, along with an assessment of your oral hygiene care at home. All the information collected will be discussed with you to prepare a personalized treatment plan.
Early detection of oral cancer plays a vital role in the success rate of treatment. Oral cancer can be found in the lips, tongue, gums, cheeks or lining, or deeper in jaw bones. Regular visits to a dental professional is the best defense against oral cancer as it is difficult to diagnose by an untrained eye. I am trained to look for any signs or abnormalities in the mouth.
After the assessment, I report back my findings. Client specific recommendations and goals will be to set to achieve optimal oral health. I also educate my clients about the importance of mechanical removal of oral biofilm via toothbrushing, and flossing.
I assess and consider all my clients limitations, risks, susceptibility to disease, personal and cultural values and preferences before formulating the goals for daily oral care.
The removal of the soft plaque and hard tarter deposits from the teeth, both above and below the gum line is called scaling. I use an ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments. If the plaque and tartar is left untreated it can cause gingivitis and can lead to irreversible periodontitis, which can further lead to tooth loss. The removal of plaque and calculus, and ultimately bacteria, is the best way to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
After the scaling, the teeth are then polished to remove any stains that teeth gather from food we eat or drink. The purpose of dental polishing is to leave the surfaces of teeth clean so that bacteria are unable to stick to them and you have a better chance of keeping the teeth clean during your regular home care.
After each cleaning, topical fluoride is applied directly to the teeth for 30 seconds to 1 minute. The patient is then directed to spit out as much out as possible.
Fluoride aids in the prevention of decay as well as sensitivity by strengthening the enamel of the teeth and aiding in the re-mineralization process.
Although some short term or temporary effects like sensitivity may occur, teeth whitening is considered to be safe as long as it is rendered by a licensed dental practitioner.
Our In-Office whitening is designed to lighten colour of teeth using 25% - 40% hydrogen peroxide gel. The gel is used to produce maximum whitening results in the shortest amount of time. For best results, and longevity, we recommend six sessions. However, we do offer three sessions as well. Each session lasts 8-20 minutes, and a maximum of three sessions can be done per day.
Depending on the type of whitening, and your dietary habits the maintenance procedure will vary. If you avoid coloured food and teeth are maintained regularly, they generally remain white and bright for a long time.
Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) is an alternative approach for managing dental decay. It involves removal of decayed tissue using hand instruments only, usually without the use of anaesthesia and drilling.
Because of its simplicity, and non-invasiveness, ART reduces patient anxiety and discomfort during dental treatment. Therefore, ART has been successfully used among frail older adults, persons with special needs, and anxious children.
**This treatment is dependent on the extent of the cavity.
While store-bought mouth guards might be effective, custom-fitted mouth guards are better for your oral and overall health as they are made of a strong and durable material, they are moulded to fit precisely over your teeth and gums offering the best possible protection, allows you to speak clearly, won’t fall out or move around, and doesn't restrict your breathing.
This is my business exclusive. I come and treat your employees in the workplace.
Many people find that taking a considerable amount of time out of their working day to visit the oral hygienist is not only inconvenient, but sometimes impossible. I am aware that there are a large number of workers who do not access hygienist care as they simply can’t take the time off work and, as such, patients see a decline in their oral health, which will worsen as time passes.
As a company, it can be frustrating to lose valuable days or hours of productivity to employees needing to have time off work to attend their dental appointments and rearranging work schedules. If you allow me to come to your premises, your staff will only need to take 30 minutes out of their working day, in-house, to have this service provided to them. I’m sure you’ll agree, the health and satisfaction of your employees is paramount.
I come to you, set up in a suitable room, usually a boardroom or side office, and spend the day treating your staff members, providing them with all the services we have to offer as an oral hygiene practice, leaving them able to resume work with minimum disruption.
As a company, it costs you NOTHING. You don’t pay for me to be there, the employees pay us individually for their appointment. You don’t arrange appointments, the employees do. I arrange with you the days I will be in your office and the employees call or email me directly to book an appointment slot.
I provide a completely bespoke service; a perfect fit that results in more efficient business management. The end result is healthy, happy employees and hours of productivity gained.
Employee Wellness Days
I also offer oral hygiene consulting services for Employee Wellness Days. My services run adjacent to the traditional services that are usually offered on that day. Whether it be oral health education and/or dental screenings, I can customize a service plan to suit your company needs.
