Hello Friends,
It is good to have test servers and databases available even when you are at home. We can almost replicate the office environment with VM setup in your personal laptops.
My laptop has 8 GB RAM and it has an Intel i3 processor and I am using an External Hard disk of 1TB capacity as my storage. I suggest not to use anything less than this configuration especially for RAC and EBS environments.
Download the freely available Virtual Box software from Oracle Website. Sometime back I downloaded VirtualBox-4.3.6-91406-Win.exe. So I am using the same, but it is always better to use the latest version.
Installation is a straight forward process
1. Double click the executable VirtualBox-4.3.6-91406-Win.exe
The following window will appear, Click on Next
2. Choose the Installation location
By default Virtual Box is installed in C:\Program Files\Oracle\VritualBox. You can change the location if you wish to and press Next
3. Check all the check boxes to let the installer create shortcuts and click on Next
4. VM Virtual Box will reset the network connections during this phase, click Yes to proceed with the installation
5. Click on Install to begin the installation
Click Yes when prompted by your computer to allow the program to install the software
6. Click on Finish to complete the installation
