Welcome to OptiMARK ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience using our optical mark recognition (OMR) application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
By using OptiMARK, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect information that you voluntarily provide when using our app:
Exam Data: Exam titles, question counts, answer keys, and grading schemes you create
Student Information: Student names, IDs, and section/class information you enter during scanning
Scan Results: Answer sheets you scan and the resulting scores and analytics
Settings Preferences: Your app preferences including language, theme, and notification settings
When you use our app, we may automatically collect:

📱 Local Storage: All exam data, student information, and scan results are stored locally on your device. We do not upload this educational data to external servers.

To process answer sheets and calculate grades
To generate reports and analytics for your exams
To save your preferences and settings
To improve our app's functionality and user experience
To provide customer support when requested
To display advertisements (for free users)
To process in-app purchases and premium subscriptions
4. Third-Party Services
For users of the free version, we use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect certain information to provide personalized ads. For more information, please review Google's Privacy Policy.
Premium subscribers do not see advertisements and this data collection does not apply to them.
For in-app purchases and subscriptions, we use Google Play Billing services. Payment information is handled directly by Google Play and is subject to Google Payments Privacy Notice.
5. Data Storage and Security
🔒 Your Data Stays on Your Device: All educational data (exams, students, scores) is stored locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms. We do not have access to this data.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your information, including:
Local data encryption on supported devices
Secure storage APIs provided by the operating system
No transmission of educational data to external servers
Optional backup features controlled entirely by you
6. Camera and Photo Access
OptiMARK requires camera access to scan answer sheets. We also request photo library access to allow you to select previously captured images for scanning.
Camera images are processed locally on your device
Scanned images may be saved with scan results (optional)
We do not upload images to any external servers
You can delete scan data and associated images at any time
7. Children's Privacy
OptiMARK is designed as an educational tool for teachers and educational institutions. While the app may process student data (names, IDs, scores), this data is:
Entered and controlled entirely by the educator using the app
Stored only on the educator's device
Not transmitted to or accessed by us
Subject to the educator's own data protection obligations
⚠️ Educator Responsibility: If you are an educator using this app, you are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable student data protection laws (such as FERPA, GDPR, or local regulations) when handling student information.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
Access: You can view all data stored in the app at any time
Deletion: You can delete individual exams, scans, or all app data from Settings
Export: You can export your data as Excel or PDF files
Backup: You can create and restore backups of your data
Opt-out of Ads: Subscribe to Premium to remove all advertisements
Camera Access: You can revoke camera permissions in your device settings
9. Data Retention
Your exam and scan data is retained on your device until you choose to delete it. We do not have access to or control over this data.
If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data will be permanently deleted unless you have created a backup.
10. International Data Transfers
Since all educational data is stored locally on your device, no international data transfers of your personal exam data occur. However, third-party services (AdMob, Google Play) may process certain device and usage data according to their own privacy policies.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
