Alexandre De Almeida Pohl

Alexandre Pohl is graduated in Physics from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1982), Brazil, where he also obtained the Master degree (Physics, 1987). From 1990 till 1994 he was a PhD student at the Technische Universitaet Braunschweig, from which he obtained the doctor degree in 1994. In 2007 he spent a year at the University of Sydney, Australia, and in 2019 six months at the Instituto de Telecomunicações - Pólo de Aveiro, Portugal, as a visiting researcher. Since 2001 he is with the Federal University of Technology - Paraná, where he is now a Full Professor and lectures on disciplines related to Optical Communications and Telecommunications. He has published more than 180 refereed papers in national and international journals and conferences. Prof. Pohl is a member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Microondas e Optoeletrônica (SBMO), senior member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Telecomunicações (SBrT), member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Ótica e Fotônica (SBFoton), and senior member of Optica (ex- Optical Society of America, OSA). He was member of the UTFPR graduate and research council and dean of the research and graduate schools of the Curitiba campus between 2014 and 2017. He served as vice-president of financial affairs of SBrT between 2012 and 2015. Nowadays he is the president of the Sociedade Brasileira de Ótica e Fotônica (2023-2025).In the present he holds a DT-1C fellowship granted by CNPq.

Anderson Stevens Leonidas Gomes

Anderson S. L. Gomes completed his Bachelor's degree (Degree, 1978) and Master's degree in Physics (1982) at the Department of Physics at the Federal University of Pernambuco. He completed his PhD in Physics at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London (1986), and post-doctorate at Brown University (1992). He is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics at UFPE, where he has worked as a permanent professor since 1990. He is a 1A researcher at CNPq. He is a permanent member of the PG programs in Physics and Dentistry (UFPE) and a collaborator in the PG program in Materials Science, UNIVASF. He served on scientific committees at CNPq, FACEPE and CAPES. He was a member of CA-CNPq, of the Superior Council of FACEPE and coordinated the Physics and Astronomy area at CAPES from 2008 to 2010. His scientific activities are in the areas of nanophotonics, biophotonics, nonlinear optics and optical communications. He is co-author of more than 300 scientific articles (Factor H: 36 Web of Science; Index H 47 on Google Scholar) and supervised 39 master's dissertations and 20 doctoral theses. He is a Fellow of OPTICA (formerly OSA), where he was President of the International Council (2011-2012). He is a member and advisor of the Brazilian Physics Society, (2020-2023) member and advisor of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science, (2020-2023) member of SPIE and IEEE. He acts as a referee for several international journals in his area of knowledge (Optics Letters, Optics Express, Physical Review, J. of Biomedical Optics, Electronics Letters, etc.). He was Associate Editor of the journal Advances in Optics and Photonics, of the Optical Society of America (2012-2014). He is associate editor of the journal Light: Science and Applications (Nature Group) for the period 2019-2025. He has acted as scientific coordinator or president of several national and international conferences in Brazil. In 2010, he was admitted to the National Order of Scientific Merit, Commander Class in the area of Physical Sciences (Decree of December 27, 2010). He is a Full Member (since 2015) and Vice-President for NE and ES (2022-2025) of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and an elected Fellow of The World Academy of Science (TWAS). In 2010, he served as Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Environment of Pernambuco, and was Secretary of Education for Pernambuco, from January 2011 to December 2012. Arandi Ginane Bezerra Junior

Bachelor's degree in Physics - UFPR (1990). Master's degree in Physics - UFPR (1993). PhD in Physics - UFPE (1999). Post-doctorate in Biophysics - University of Guelph, Canada (2003-2005). Post-doctorate in Nanobiophotonics - University of Guelph, Canada (2016-2017). Currently, is a Full Professor at the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), working in the Academic Department of Physics (DAFIS), in the stricto sensu graduate program in Scientific, Educational and Technological Formation (PPGFCET) - of which is one of the founders - and in the stricto sensu graduate program in Physics and Astronomy (PPGFA) - of which is also one of the founders. Has experience in the following areas: Nanophotonics, with emphasis on nanoparticle synthesis by laser ablation, aiming at applications in biomedicine, such as diagnostic tests, nanotoxicity, microbiological control, and photodynamic inactivation; Plasmonics, with emphasis on SERS and MEF; Photonics, with emphasis on nonlinear optics; Biophysics, with emphasis on Raman and infrared spectroscopy. Also works in Science Education, with emphasis on teacher training and scientific dissemination, particularly in the teaching of Modern and Contemporary Physics, Biology, and Science, in Free Technologies for teaching laboratories, and video analysis. In 2019, began work in Early Childhood Education. Was part of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Diagnostics for Public Health (INDI-Saúde), coordinating the Associated Laboratory of UTFPR. Is the coordinator of the research group "PhotoNanoBio" and the research group "Early Childhood Education and Science Teaching: Tensions, Contexts, Relations, and Cultures".

Carlos Lenz Cesar

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Federal University of Ceará (1977), a Master's degree in Physics from the State University of Campinas (1979), and a PhD from the State University of Campinas (1985). Currently, he is a full professor at the Federal University of Ceará. He has experience in the field of Physics, with emphasis on Condensed Matter Physics, working mainly on the following topics: photonics and biophotonics. Biophotonics techniques include optical tweezers, multiphoton confocal microscopy, CARS microscopy, SHG/THG microscopy, FLIM microscopy, nanotechnology through the production of quantum dots for fluorescent labeling. Photonics materials and techniques include measurements of nonlinear and femtosecond-resolved optics, optical fibers including photonic crystal fibers, glasses doped with semiconductor quantum dots and rare earths.

Cid Bartolomeu De Araujo

Graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco -UFPE (1968), Master's in Physics (1971) and PhD in Physics (1975) from PUC in Rio de Janeiro. Post-doctorate at Harvard University (1976-1977) in the USA. Professor at the Department of Physics at UFPE since July 1971. Full Professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco-UFPE (1989 to 2013). Professor Emeritus-UFPE-Recife. He has had a CNPq research grant since January 1978 (classified at Level 1A since 1985). He is a Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and Pernambuco Academy of Sciences (APC). Awarded the Galileo Galilei prize granted in 2003 by the International Commission for Optics (ICO). He has been a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA) since 2005. He is a Member of the National Order of Scientific Merit [Classes: Grand Cross (2008) and Commander (1998)]. Until January 2023, he published 377 articles in international scientific journals, 15 book chapters, edited 2 books published by international publishers and contributed to more than 560 communications at national and international congresses. The published works have around 11,600 citations in the Google Scholar database and index H=55. Supervised 45 Master's Theses, 30 Doctoral Theses and 23 Post-Doctoral Students. He was a Visiting Professor at the Université d'Angers (Angers, France) and Visiting Researcher at the State University of Campinas, École Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France), Université Paris-Nord, I.B.M.-Thomas J. Watson Research Center (New York). Member of the Editorial Board of Optical Materials (Amsterdam) 1991-1995; Brazilian Journal of Physics 1991-2007 (Editor between 1992 and 1995); Applied Physics Letters 2013-2015; Journal of Applied Physics 2013-2015; APL Photonics (Editorial Advisory Board) 2019-2024. He was included by PLOS Biology (Ranking 2019 and Ranking 2020) in four lists of the most influential Physics researchers in the world (by performance during his scientific career and by works published in both years). In 2021 he was listed in the Latin America Top 10,000 Scientists (AD Scientific Index 2021) - World Scientist and University Ranking 2021, 2022, and 2023 (including performance during his career and work in the last two years). He works in the area of Physics, with an emphasis on Optical Properties of Solids, Nonlinear Optics and Photonics. In recent years he has dedicated himself to the study of special glasses for Photonics, and nanostructured systems for applications in Nanophotonics and Plasmonics. He is a permanent professor of postgraduate courses in Physics and Materials Science at UFPE.

Cleber Renato Mendonça

Cleber R. Mendonca received his PhD in physics in 2000 from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 2001 he worked as a postdoc at the College of Optics and Photonics (CREOL), University of Central Florida. He was hired at the Sao Carlos Institute of Physics, University of Sao Paulo in 2001, where he is currently Full Professor. In 2003, together with other professors, he founded the Photonics Group at the IFSC/USP. From 2005 to 2007, he was a postdoc at Harvard University, where he worked on femtosecond-laser microfabrication and ultrafast dynamics in solids. In 2022 he was a visiting researcher visiting professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Photonic Materials group. He is a member of the Fulbright Alumni, is a senior member of Optica (formerly known as The Optical Society - OSA), and member of Materials Research Society (MRS) and SPIE. He published ca. 314 papers in refereed journals, which received ca. 5,100 citations (h = 36) in the Web of Science, and 7,242 citations (h = 42) in Google Scholar, in July, 2023, filed 5 patents, and supervised 40 MSc and PhD students. In 2010 he was awarded the ICO/ICTP Gallieno Denardo award. Prof. Mendonca has led research into the nonlinear spectroscopy of novel photonic materials and advanced processing of materials with ultrashort laser pulses.

Denise Zezell

OSA/OPTICA FELLOW since 2022. She coordinates a National Institute of Science and Technology of Radiation in Health Science (CNPq/INCT 406761/2022-1). She was elected for the board of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC). Coordinator of postgraduate evaluation committee CNPq 35/2023 (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). Bachelor in Physics (1984), MSc in Physics (1987) and PhD in Sciences from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1991). Postdoc at the International Center for Theoretical Physics - Trieste, Italy (1992) and at the Center for Lasers and Applications at IPEN/CNEN-SP (1992-1995). She has been a full reserarcher at the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute of the Nuclear Energy National Commission (CNEN) since 1995, where she was Manager of the Lasers and Applications Center in 2008. From 2009 to 2013 she was the Coordinator of the Professional Master Program in Lasers in Dentistry at IPEN, together with School of Dentistry- University of Sao Paulo (USP). From 2013 to 2015 she was Vice-Coordinator of the Master's and Doctorate Program in Nuclear Technology at USP. She was principal investigator in a number of FAPESP (CEPID Optics and Photonics) and other National projects (CNPq INCT Photonics) a member of the Medical Physics Commission of the Brazilian Society of Physics from 2008-2014. She was Vice President of the Brazilian Association of Lasers in Dentistry (ABLO) 2010-2014. Participated in the Capes-CA Engineering II Quadrennial Evaluation Committee 2013-2016. She was the creator and since 2019 is the Dean of the Professional Master Course in Radiation Technology in Health Sciences, IPEN. Since 2017, she has been appointed OSA Traveling Lecturer, a member of Education Commission from CNEN. Member of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Photonics Society (2021-current) and its Newsletter editor for Biophotonics (2018-2019). During 2019 she was member of the Technical Group 9 of the Brazilian Committee for the Development of Nuclear Program. Since 2020 is member of the Committee of Photonics - Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). Work in the following fields: Physics, Biophotonics, in the study of Optical and Spectroscopic Properties of biological tissues mainly by micro-FTIR and fluorescence, infrared thermography, aiming at the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic processes for clinical applications of lasers in dentistry and medicine. She has been dedicated to the search for biomarkers to determine the effects of ionizing radiation on biological tissues as well as to study the early diagnosis of skin and breast tumors by vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR optical biopsy).

Eduardo Landulfo

Bachelor's at Bacharelado Em Física from Universidade de São Paulo (1989), master's at Nuclear Engineering from Universidade de São Paulo (1992) and doctorate at Nuclear Engineering from Universidade de São Paulo (1997). He is currently full professor at Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear. Has experience in Geosciences, focusing on Remote Sensing, acting on the following subjects: lidar, lidar raman, aerosols, air pollution and sensoriamento remoto.

Eunezio Antonio Thoroh de Souza

Graduated in Physics from the São Carlos Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the University of São Paulo in 1996. He obtained a direct PhD in Physics from the Gleb Wataghin Institute of Physics of the State University of Campinas in 1991. Between 1992 and 1995 he was a visiting researcher at the AT&T Bell Laboratories (Homdel, NJ) working in the advanced optoelectronic devices department. Back in Brazil, he became a professor at the Institute of Physics at the University of Brasília (UnB) where he was coordinator of the Institute's postgraduate program. He is currently a professor at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie and creator of MackGraphe (Center for Advanced Research in Graphene Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies). He is an advisor to the CGIA (China Innovation Alliance of the Graphene Industry), a member of the International Committee of the RIDC (Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers) of Fapesp, of the Scientific Advisory Board of Quanta-Lab (INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and University of Minho ), the Innovation Committee of CPqD, CCFOTO (MCTIC Photonics Advisory Committee), member of OSA (Optical Society of America), IEEE Photonics Society, SBF (Brazilian Society of Physics) and SBMO (Brazilian Society of Microwaves and Optoelectronics). Flavio Caldas Da Cruz

Professor of Physics at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), with B.S. in Physics from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics from UNICAMP and post doctorate at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Visiting fellow at JILA , senior research associate at the University of Colorado and guest researcher at NIST. Research in AMO Physics includes laser spectroscopy, laser cooling and trapping, metrology, terahertz science, photonics and laser technology.

Gustavo Paganini Canal

Technician in Electrotechnics from the Federal Center for Technological Education of Espírito Santo, Bachelor in Physics from the Federal University of Espírito Santo, Master's degree in Physics from the Brazilian Center for Physical Research, PhD in Plasma Physics from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, postdoctoral at General Atomics - Fusion Division, San Diego - USA, with long-term allocation at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, Princeton - USA, and Visiting Professor from Abroad (PVE) at the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo (IFUSP). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Physics at IFUSP. One of the authors of the proposed National Nuclear Fusion Program that was submitted to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Coordinator of the IFUSP tokamak TCABR modernization project. Representative of MS-5 Associate Professors on the Council of the Department of Applied Physics at IFUSP (2020-Current) where I am a member of the Congregation and of various committees: International Relations Committee (23/08/2023-Current), Research Committee (28/11/2021 - current), IT Committee (11/09/2021 - 21/03/2024) and Academic Project Monitoring Committee (03/2021 - 03/2022). Has experience in basic plasma physics, nuclear fusion plasmas, tokamaks, plasma diagnostics, and plasmas applied to nanotechnological processes and petroleum processing: plasma glow in DC and RF, DBD, pulsed laser ablation, magnetron sputtering and surface plasmon resonance.

Gustavo Wiederhecker

Gustavo Wiederhecker holds an Associate Professor position at the University of Campinas, his research laboratory targets at harnessing nonlinear optical phenomena within microphotonic devices, with emphasis in the interaction between light and mechanical waves. He has been elected an affiliate member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences for the 2019-2024 term. Before joining University of Campinas in 2011, he earned his B.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Physics from the same University and has been a postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University from 2008-2011. His Ph.D thesis has been awarded with the "Grande Prêmio CAPES José Leite Lopes" on 2009.

Herculano Da Silva Martinho

Bachelor's at Fisica from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1997), master's at Physic from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2000) and doctorate at Physic from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2004). Actually is Associate Professor III at Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC), Santo Andre-SP, Brazil. The actual research interests are glassy properties of biological macromolecules and confined water in biological systems. Also dedicates to the development of technological applications of vibrational spectroscopy in the optical biopsy field.

Ingrid David Barcelos

Graduated in Electrical Engineering from FEI (2001), Master and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Mackenzie Presbyterian University (2006 and 2012). She is currently Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (PPGEEC) at Mackenzie Presbyterian University and Photonics Researcher at the MackGraphe Research Center. She has experience in the area of Telecommunications, with emphasis on the development of devices for Optical Communications, acting mainly in the research of ultrashort pulses generation in Erbium-doped fiber laser, Raman optical amplifiers and graphene-based electro-optical modulators. She has also worked on microfabrication projects for electronic, photonic and optical devices in the Clean Room such as modulators, detectors and sensors based on graphene and other two-dimensional materials.

Lauro June Queiroz Maia

Graduated in Physics at Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) (2000), Master in Applied Physics at Instituto de Física de São Carlos of Universidade de São Paulo (IFSC-USP) (2003) and Ph.D. co-tutellage in Applied Physics at Instituto de Física de São Carlos of Universidade de São Paulo (IFSC-USP) and in nanostructures at Université de Grenoble (Actualy Université Grenoble Alpes - UGA) (2006). Post-doctorate internship at Instituto de Química of UNESP at Araraquara/SP (IQ-UNESP), from December/2006 to May/2008. Was Physics Engeneering coordinator of the Instituto de Física of Universidade Federal de Goiás (IF/UFG) between November/2012 and November/2016 (first one of UFG and Goias State). During June/2017 and May/2018 received a CAPES/MEC grant (scholarship of Programa Estágio Sênior no Exterior) and UFG support to carry out a Senior Stage (Post-Doctorate internship) in Canada at Ecole Polytechnique Montréal / Université de Montréal (Physics and Electrical Engeneering Departments), under supervision of Prof. Dr. Raman Kashyap, to study oxide materials for laser cooling. He is currently Associate Professor IV at the Physics Institute of the Federal University of Goiás, From April / 2019 to August/2021 was Deputy Director of the Technological Park Samambaia at UFG and advisor to the Dean of Research at UFG. Member of the Institutional Intellectual Property Committee (CIPI) at UFG since May / 2018. From November/2019 to August/2021 was member of the Executive Committee of the IPElab Network - Ideas, Prototyping and Entrepreneurship at UFG and he is the Director of Physics Institut of UFG since April/2021. During the period from January to March / 2020 and from November to December/2021 he carried out scientific and technological research activities at the Institut Néel of the CNRS de Grenoble in France, as Invited Professor at the Université Grenoble Alpes. He has experience in physics and materials science, focusing on thermal, structural and optical properties of the condensed materials, acting on the following subjects: thin films, ceramics, nanothermometry, nanoparticles, nanostructures, glasses and glass-ceramics obtained by chemical processes, as sol-gel process and polymeric precursor method.

Lino Misoguti

Graduate at Física Teórica e Experimental from Universidade de São Paulo (1991), master's at Physic from Universidade de São Paulo (1994) and ph.d. at Material and Metallurgical Engineering from Universidade de São Paulo (1999). , acting on the following subjects: z-scan, silicio amorfo hidrogenado, filmes finos, descarga luminescente and ultrafast pulse.

Lúcia Akemi Miyazato Saito

Marcus Paulo Raele

Graduated in Physics from the University of São Paulo (USP). The study topics in both the master's and doctorate studies, also carried out at USP, were related to the development of Optical Coherence Tomography systems. He is currently part of the IPEN team of researchers, at the Center for Lasers and Applications, developing laser applications in nuclear and radiative sciences, focusing on the processing of materials through laser ablation.

Nathália B. Tomazio

Currently, Nathália B. Tomazio is a PhD Professor at the Physics Institute of the University of São Paulo (IF-USP). Nathália graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physics with a specialization in Optics and Photonics from the São Carlos Physics Institute of the University of São Paulo (2013), and completed a Master's degree (2016) and Doctorate (2020) at the same institution. Throughout her Masters and Doctorate, Nathália studied optical processes in polymeric microcavities manufactured using the laser writing technique. Furthermore, Nathália participated in two international cooperations to deepen her knowledge about the physics of optical microcavities (Universitat de València) and integrated photonics (Columbia University). In her postdoctoral research, carried out at the Photonic Devices Laboratory (IFGW-UNICAMP), Nathália studied non-linear optical effects in chip-integrated silicon nitride photonic microdevices. His research interests include photonic microdevices, nonlinear optics, and microfabrication by laser writing techniques.

Niklaus Ursus Wetter

Niklaus Ursus Wetter has a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich - ETH (1988 - Switzerland) and a PhD in Nuclear Technology from the Institute for Energy and Nuclear Research (1993). He is currently a senior researcher at the National Nuclear Energy Commission at IPEN/SP-USP and a postgraduate professor at the University of São Paulo USP, where he regularly teaches a subject. From 2009 to 2013 he was deputy manager of the Lasers and Applications Center at IPEN/SP. From 2013 to 2018 he held the position of manager of the Lasers and Applications Center at IPEN/SP. From 2014 to 2020 he held the position of director-president of FAFITPE, IPEN's Foundation for Support and Promotion of Technological Innovation, Research and Teaching, of which he has been an advisor since 2022. Since 2019 he has held the position of Deputy Director of Research and IPEN Internationalization Manager. In his role as Internationalization Manager, he has so far implemented 14 bilateral agreements with universities and institutes from all over the world, including the Battelle Energy Alliance, which encompasses eight of the largest federal research institutions in the USA. In 2018, he was responsible for organizing the André Swieca Summer School and the São Paulo School of Advanced Science FAPESP "Laserfrontiers.com" with 141 students, 40 of whom were from outside Latin America. He was associate editor of the journals Optics Express and Optical Materials Express and serves as associate editor of the journal Frontiers, specializing in Optical Nanostructures. He specializes in laser development and operates in the main segments: Solid state lasers and materials for laser media, Waveguides, Laser applications in life sciences, Lasers in nuclear applications and Raman Spectroscopy. Since 2008, he has been developing light sources in disordered materials, or "Random Lasers", for applications in optical devices. In 2017, through a FAPESP project, it acquired multi-user Raman-TERS (AFM) equipment with STM and SNOM, aimed at measurements and development of nanomaterials. It has 4 patent letters and 9 applications in total, 240 international articles with more than 2500 citations and h factor of 29 (Scopus).

Nilson Dias Vieira Junior

Gratuation in Physics in 1975, Master In Nuclear Physics in 1979, Ph.D. in solid State Physics in 1986, all at Universitiy of São Paulo,was a visitor at AT&T Bell Labs, N.J. USA for 2 years, in the Quantum Electronics Gruop. Work in the follwoing fields: lasers, laser applications, ultrafast phenomena and high intensity lasers. The present position is full researcher at Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear, beeing in managament since 1987 up to the highest position at IPEN - Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares, superintendent till december, 2012. I was a member of the Board of FAPESP, the Science funding agency of the Sate of São Paulo. Founded and coordinated a prossional Master Course "Lasers in Dntistry", till 2009. Advisor of 11 Ph.D. thesis and 14 master dissertations, published 148 papers with more than 1869 citations, achieving a H factor of 23. In 12008 was amember of the Board of the CBPF, Brazilain Center for Research in Physics, for two mandates. It was assigned brazilian representative for the High-level Group on the Issue for Security of Supply of Medical Radioisotopes, a group of OECD - Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development, in 2012. Since 2008 is a member of the Fiscal Board of the Industrias Nucleares do Berasil S.A.. I was entiltled Member of theState of São Paulo Academy of Sciences since october 2015.

Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato

Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato simultaneously completed a Bachelor's degree in Physics - USP, and Materials Engineering - UFSCar in 1981 and completed a PhD in Physics - Massachusetts Institute of Technology - MIT in 1987. He is currently a full professor at the University of São Paulo. He was director of the São Carlos Physics Institute from 2018 to 2022. He published around 700 articles in specialized journals. It has 29 book chapters and 7 published books. He supervised more than 100 theses between master's and doctorate levels, in the areas of Physics, Dentistry and Medicine. He received several awards and honors. He works in the area of Atomic Physics and Optical Applications in Health Sciences. He works with cold atoms, Bose-Einstein Condensates and photodynamic actions in cancer and microbiological control. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, the Vatican Pontifical Academy of Sciences, and the National Academy of Sciences (USA). Coordinates a Research Center, in which basic and applied sciences coexist in harmony. It carries out various Technological Innovation and science dissemination activities.
