Alexandre De Almeida Pohl

Alexandre Pohl is graduated in Physics from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1982), Brazil, where he also obtained the Master degree (Physics, 1987). From 1990 till 1994 he was a PhD student at the Technische Universitaet Braunschweig, from which he obtained the doctor degree in 1994. In 2007 he spent a year at the University of Sydney, Australia, and in 2019 six months at the Instituto de Telecomunicações - Pólo de Aveiro, Portugal, as a visiting researcher. Since 2001 he is with the Federal University of Technology - Paraná, where he is now a Full Professor and lectures on disciplines related to Optical Communications and Telecommunications. He has published more than 180 refereed papers in national and international journals and conferences. Prof. Pohl is a member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Microondas e Optoeletrônica (SBMO), senior member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Telecomunicações (SBrT), member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Ótica e Fotônica (SBFoton), and senior member of Optica (ex- Optical Society of America, OSA). He was member of the UTFPR graduate and research council and dean of the research and graduate schools of the Curitiba campus between 2014 and 2017. He served as vice-president of financial affairs of SBrT between 2012 and 2015. Nowadays he is the president of the Sociedade Brasileira de Ótica e Fotônica (2023-2025).In the present he holds a DT-1C fellowship granted by CNPq.
