Effective Date: July 24, 2025
OpticMD ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our telemedicine application, OpticMD (the "App"), which connects patients with ophthalmologists for remote consultations. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
We may collect the following types of information when you use the App:
Personal Information: Information that identifies you, such as your name, email address, phone number, and payment information.
Health Information: Medical data related to your eye health, including complaints, diagnoses, and recommendations provided during consultations, which are stored securely to facilitate telemedicine services.
Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the App, such as consultation history, chat messages, and uploaded files (e.g., images or PDFs related to your health).
Device Information: Technical data such as device type, operating system, IP address, and unique device identifiers to ensure the App functions correctly.
Analytics & Attribution Data: We use third-party analytics and attribution tools (Google Analytics for Firebase and Yandex AppMetrica) that automatically collect information about how you use the App (e.g., screen views, clicks, session duration, feature usage, in-app events such as purchases/subscriptions), and technical data (device model, OS version, app version, language, network information). These tools may also process pseudonymous identifiers such as the app-instance identifier / Firebase installation identifiers and the device’s advertising ID (if available) for measurement and attribution purposes. Location may be inferred at a country level from IP address (e.g., for fraud prevention/attribution and analytics reporting).
We do not intentionally send health content (chat messages, uploaded medical files, diagnoses) to analytics systems; analytics events are configured to avoid including medical or other sensitive content.
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
Provide Services: To facilitate consultations, process payments, and manage appointments with ophthalmologists.
Improve the App: To analyze usage patterns and enhance the functionality and user experience of the App including measuring app performance, understanding feature adoption, diagnosing crashes/technical issues, and attributing installs and purchases to marketing campaigns using analytics and attribution providers.
Communication: To send you notifications about appointments, payment confirmations, or updates to our services.
Security: To protect your data and prevent unauthorized access to your account.
Compliance: To comply with legal obligations, such as maintaining records for medical consultations or responding to regulatory requests.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share your information in the following cases:
With Ophthalmologists: Your health information is shared with licensed ophthalmologists to provide consultation services.
Service Providers: We use third-party services, such as Google Play Billing for payment processing, Render for hosting, and Agora for video consultation functionality, which may access your data solely to perform their functions.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests from public authorities.
Analytics Providers: We share limited usage and device/technical data with analytics and attribution providers such as Google (Google Analytics for Firebase) and Yandex (AppMetrica) to help us understand App usage, measure conversions, and improve reliability. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective terms and policies.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS.
Secure storage of health and personal information in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Render.
Access controls to limit data access to authorized personnel only.
Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but strive to protect your data.
We comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to protect your health information. All health data is encrypted and stored securely.
We retain your personal and health information for as long as necessary to provide the App's services or comply with legal obligations. Analytics & attribution data may be retained by our analytics providers according to the retention settings of the relevant analytics property (for example, event/user-level retention in Google Analytics can be configured to limited periods such as 2 or 14 months, depending on the setup).
You may request the deletion of your personal and health information, including your account details and consultation history, by contacting us at jartltsoldatov@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request." Please include your registered email or username in the request. We will process your request within 30 days and confirm deletion, subject to any legal retention requirements.
Our App uses Agora for video and audio consultations. Agora may process limited data, such as IP addresses and call metadata, to provide these services. To request deletion of any data processed by Agora, please contact privacy@agora.io with your account details or the App ID associated with OpticMD. For more information, refer to Agora's Privacy Policy: https://www.agora.io/en/privacy-policy/.
Analytics Controls and Deletion:
- You can opt out of analytics/attribution data collection (where available) in the App settings (if provided) or by disabling analytics collection features on your device.
- For Google Analytics for Firebase, the SDK supports resetting analytics data stored on the device and resetting the app-instance identifier (e.g., via resetAnalyticsData, if implemented in the App).
- For Yandex AppMetrica, the SDK can be configured to disable statistics sending until consent is obtained, and can also disable/enable data sending (if implemented in the App).
Please note: analytics providers may store data under pseudonymous identifiers. If we cannot reliably link analytics identifiers to your account, we may be unable to delete specific analytics records upon request; in that case, opting out/resetting identifiers is the practical way to stop further collection.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your data, subject to legal obligations.
Opt-Out: Opt out of certain data processing, such as marketing communications.
To exercise these rights, contact us at jartltsoldatov@gmail.com.
For analytics and attribution (e.g., Firebase Analytics and AppMetrica), we may rely on your consent where required by applicable law. You may withdraw consent at any time by using the in-app privacy settings (if available) or by contacting us.
For users in the European Union, we process your data based on your consent or to fulfill our contractual obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting jartltsoldatov@gmail.com.
