Background:
The Oak Park River Forest High School Film Festival is an event built on promoting the creative endeavors of students. As of the past years, interest in film has begun to continuously rise. Yet, this rise has not been followed by an advance in recognition. Our mission is to create an event that allows students to share, promote, and publicize their artwork within the community of Oak Park. Past the promotion, we also work towards providing the best form of rewards to help support student’s artistic goals. We work with different public and private organizations to help garner support.
The festival showcases student made short films. As a product of little to no limitations, each film may vary in subject and theme, but all are overflowing with creativity and freedom of thought. This flexibility is essential to us. As more studios work towards putting power within their marketing teams over the artists; we hope to offer a breath of fresh air, and inspire limitless storytelling within our student body. As we progress in years to come, we hope to expand on our reach and grow in acknowledgement.
Mission:
Our objective is to promote student made short films within the Oak Park community. We hope to offer a space that acknowledges student made work and give it the recognition it deserves. We also hope that by promoting student made films, we can inspire other creative outlets within the school to follow suit. If a festival dedicated to sharing student short films is celebrated, who is to say an event dedicated to pottery, crochet, or printmaking would not be. As time progresses, the impact left by OPRFHS Film Festival will leave space for others to create events of their own. This in turn will help create a community that fully embraces and empowers the importance of the arts.
Goals:
1) Offer students the space to receive recognition and promote their creative endeavors.
2) Provide students the necessary support to create short films with little to no restrictions.
3) Empower students around Oak Park to check out and learn more about filmmaking.
