This map was created using ArcGIS online. It uses a Montana Public Lands Layer to show the amount of public lands and conservation easements that exist along the Northern Boundary of YNP (represented by the dark green) . By using Cadastral, it is possible to find parcels of land that have more than 25 acres of grazing and shows likely areas where bison could roam (represented by the light green). However, most of these areas are centered around rural roads, so a Landfire Existing Vegetation Type layer is able to show a more complete picture of possible bison range. The light tan areas are places that could have vegetation that could possibly support bison. In summary, areas with green shading and a tan base are areas where bison could likely roam with increased tolerance.
