Article I: Name of Club- Operation Smile

Article II: Purpose of Club- Operation Smile helps to deliver safe surgery for cleft palates where it's most needed. We have the common goal of raising $240 to pay for 2 cleft palate surgeries. We will also do various service projects that have been provided by the larger organization of Operation Smile (ex. sock puppets, blankets, etc.)

Article III: Meetings- Meetings will occur on the second Wednesday of the month during PackTime in Mrs. Richardson’s room (2322).

Article IV: Membership- Operation Smile is open to everyone grades 9-12, however students must fill out an interest form to be a part of the club. 

- Students have two excused absences for the entire year. Any more than that and they will be removed from the club.

-Any student removed from the club for any reason will not be able to rejoin Operation Smile at any point in their time at Wakefield High School. Other reasons for a student being dropped from the club include misconduct in the school, expulsion from the school, and extended suspensions will be taken under advisement. Operation Smile does not tolerate bullying or mistreatment of other students, meaning if students are causing this within the club it will be taken under advisement and students have a chance of being dropped from the club. 

-Officers may be replaced for any of the previously mentioned reasons or if they are not properly carrying out their roles. 

-Club requirements include being in good academic and behavioral standing with the school, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Article V: Dues- Our Operation Smile chapter has a due of $5. This due goes towards funding our final goal of $480 to pay for two cleft palate surgeries.

Article VI: Officers and Duties- Our club will have co-presidents, a vice president, a secretary, a treasurer, and a communications officer. 

The Presidents (2) will:

-Lead meetings

-Runs the club website, social media pages, and remind

The Vice President (1) will:

-Help the presidents with various tasks (updating website, social media, etc.)

-Help find service projects and opportunities to raise money

-Attend ALL meetings (both officer meetings and regular meetings)

-Contribute to the club and help it improve over time

-Oversee other officers and their duties

The Secretary (1) will:

-Take attendance at meetings

-Keep track of all members’ hours

-Help the Vice President and the Presidents

-Attend ALL meetings (both officer meetings and regular meetings)

-Submit meeting notes at least once a month. 

-Help recruit members

The Treasurer (1) will:

-Be in charge of keeping track of how much money is raised

-Oversee the financial side of all club activities, such as social events and fundraising events.

The Communications Officer (1) will:

-Stay in communication with our regional Operation Smile Representative

-Helps find new fundraising and service opportunities

-In charge of the transportation of club service projects to the Operation Smile headquarters (Ex. blankets, bracelets, letters, etc.)

Article VII: Elections- 

-Only rising Juniors and Seniors are eligible to run for officer positions. They can apply through a Google form that will be sent out towards the end of each school year.

-The new officers will be elected by the previous year’s officers. The new officers do not have to be elected unanimously, only by the majority vote (4/6 officers or more). 

-The Vice President and both of the Presidents have the option to continue their positions until they graduate and/or leave Wakefield High School/Operation Smile. They will need to make the decision of whether they will continue in their position for the following year by the time the next year’s officer application goes out. 

-Applications will be open after the third to last Operation Smile meeting (March). They will be due by the second to last meeting (April), and the new officers will be chosen between the April and May meetings. The new officers will run the last meeting of the year (May).

Article VIII: Activities, Projects, and Community Service- Each club meeting will surround either a service project or the planning/execution of a fundraising event. Operation Smile provides ideas for service projects as well as various drives for needed items. All fundraisers will go to support our goal of raising $240 to fund 1 cleft palate surgery.
