Opera GX initially launched in 2019 with sound effects designed by the acclaimed composer Ruben Rincn and the Berlinist band, known for the Bafta-nominated soundtrack to Gris. The same team is responsible for the new dynamic background music in Opera GX.

To make this vision a reality, Opera GX has partnered with the international Game Music Festival and sponsored its annual GMF 2020 High Score Competition, where music score composers can compete for cash prizes and to have their music featured in Opera GX by winning the GX Composer 2020 title. The competition opens on Sept. 16 2020.

The opera explores the importance of language, specifically how the words we understand and utilize can make a person feel connected or disconnected to their cultural heritage. The storyline explores three different relationships: a Mexican family experiencing a language barrier; two Romanian friends disagreeing about the role the church plays in their lives; and a couple interpreting various paintings at a museum.

At the colloquium, we will interactively explore the harmonic language associated with each character and the interaction between the characters, leading to a greater appreciation of the genius behind this mini-opera. The presentation will conclude with a complete performance of Erlknig.

UGA Opera Theatre currently produces two full opera productions per academic year plus an additional opera scenes program. The fall production is presented in Hodgson Hall in collaboration with the UGA Symphony Orchestra and the UGA Choirs.

The spring production is presented in the Fine Arts Theatre on North Campus. The Opera Ensemble class is open to anyone interested in performing in the opera chorus and does not require an audition. Occasional secondary roles are offered to singers in this ensemble.

The Opera Department team consists of Professor Frederick Burchinal, Metropolitan Opera veteran and international opera baritone as Director of Opera, Producer, and stage director; Mr. Daniel Ellis, international opera director whose credits include the Komische Oper in Berlin, Finnish National Opera, Grand Thtre de Genve, Chicago Lyric Opera and more as stage director and producer; and Ms. Kathryn Wright as Principal Opera Coach. Ms. Wright, who also teaches language diction classes, comes to UGA with experience as an international opera coach with the Metropolitan Opera, DeutscheOper Berlin, Dresden Opera, Cologne Opera, and the Australian Opera.

I love teaching kids about different styles of music, and opera is one of my favorites! It is a great way to incorporate geography, history, and culture into your lessons, because you can talk about German, Italy, France, etc. A lot of countries have opera but those are the three big ones.

We used creative movement with scarves (check out the full lesson here) to learn about using movement to show how the music sounds. We talked about using the scarves to show fast and slow passages, as well as high and low. They loved it. I loved it.

Another favorite (which works with any kind of music) is to have students listen to a song and draw a picture of that is makes them think of. I have used this activity with K-5 (it is especially great for subs!). You just play the piece a few times, and have them draw whatever comes to mind. I usually do this with blank paper, but there are templates on TPT like this one.

I have a few of these opera activity books. They were at the school when I got here, but they are available on Amazon. They are awesome. They are full of information and games. They talk about the composers and the music. There are mini-skits that students can act out as well as word searches and coloring pages. I definitely recommend them (they are also pretty cheap, which also helps).

Have students act out key points from operas. So that no one has to sing Queen of the Night, you could play the arias, and have the students lip sync to it. You could do this as a whole class or in groups. Each group could have a scene.

You can watch clips from operas. I did this a lot in our opera unit. I would have the students watch an aria, and then I would tell them what was going on in the scene. This was a good way to have them watch opera without having to sit through everything.

Opera at USC offers a truly comprehensive program for both graduate and undergraduate students, covering every facet of opera production, both on stage and behind the scenes. Yesterday I downloaded a responsive navbar tutorial and saw that the author had used button click sound using JavaScript.

So I try the code (copying it) and was able to make it too. When the button is clicked the background music plays well. But when I try adding the same code to body onload function the music din't play.

So, I thought the code has some error but suddenly I opened the HTML file from Opera Mini for Android and the background music appeared. The code which isn't working in advanced browsers like Chrome is working in Opera Mini. Why is this happening?
