I remember the first time I read the title of this book and I knew that I have to give it a read. It was exhilarating to relate to the characters in this book. It felt as if I am not alone and if there is one thing that binds us all together is that we all have an "Open Wound" from the past. Anusha Abid has beautifully described the reality of life in this book. At some point, while I was reading this book, I would simply feel those words being alive in front of my eyes as if they are breathing. Reading this book taught me that hope begins the moment you feel pain. This book is for people who live a simple life and cherish little moments. Moreover, it made me realize that humans are fragile beings connected through a thread of time only separated by a moment. Get ready for the bitter-sweet reality with no false expectations but only hope. My personal favourite chapter is the thirteen chapter which is "Love" and I love how the writer has carefully used "khwaab (dream)" with it as these two words are closely linked. The touch of Urdu poetry added more beauty to this book and it is definitely a pleasure to the eyes. If you feel connected to little things, places and strangers then this book is for you. It is not like any other book about love and organically depicts the reality of love without any filter.

Open Wound is a novel that I can say, without a doubt, is extremely close to my heart. I completed reading it in a day and that's because I couldn't simply stop. The story is super relatable even though every character lives a very different life. And that's what made me fall in love with it. I think it is easily one of my favorite novels. The story is slow yet peaceful but with a lot of chaos, in every chapter I learned something new. Just as the author has mentioned in the author's note, I too felt a change in my perspective about life. The way some things have been described in this novel are so pure that one begins to wonder that there are very few novels like these. Gradually, as a reader you will begin to feel a rollercoaster of emotions. My top most favorite scene is when Zeest and Zayan have their very first conversation. And in that one conversation, there are so many layers that the writer has descrbed. We more often than not ignore these little things in our day to day conversations with the people around us. Some scenes, I must warn you, are too heart-wrenching. But at the same time very important to read.

I must say that this book relates to each and every person having those painful wounds that life has given them! "In the moments like these" is the best part of this book which explains many relatable moments! We think that all wounds are written for us but by reading this book I have come to know that not only me but other people out there face the same painful wounds but cope with them in different ways! This book has really made changes in me to be a better one! LOVE IS ALL U NEED AS AN OINTMENT FOR SUCH WOUNDS! The best I have ever read!

The book was amazing and I loved every bit of it. Especially the way the connections between different beautiful souls were shown. It was an extremely interesting read. Also, the motivational quotes and the short excerpts between the story was a unique one and this really made the book stand out.
