Pedro Bernardo's Hang Gliding Open is an FAI 2 event, which takes place every year in the Tiétar Valley (Ávila, Spain). This year we celebrate its 9th edition. The Open has 3 categories: class 1, class 5, and sport class. Registration for the championship will take place on Thursday 30 April in the afternoon and Friday 1 May in the morning at the Casa de la Cultura de Pedro Bernardo (House of Culture). In it, we will load the waypoints and your dorsal in your instrument of flight (GPS) and we will give you the bag of gift, that includes a t-shirt. This is a good time to chat with other pilots and make groups to drive to takeoffs or organise pick-ups. Pedro Bernardo is in the province of Ávila (Spain), in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula. This flight zone is located on the south side of the Central Range, in the Sierra de Gredos, opening into the Tiétar Valley. Pedro Bernardo offers good thermal conditions most of the year. This site has 3 takeoffs, with south, east and west orientations. Although the dominant component of the wind is southwesterly, it is possible to fly with the other orientations. From Pedro Bernardo have been enhanced flights of more than 300 km in hang gliding and 200 km in paragliding, which has given this area a great popularity.

We will add the mobile numbers of the pilots to the WhatsApp group Open of Pedro Bernardo, so that you can easily get in touch with the organizers and with the other pilots. All important information about the Open will be provided through that group. During the Open you can use it to report landings or incidents. Use the group with common sense, thinking about the other pilots.
This time we won't have live tracking. The tracks of the flights will be downloaded from the GPS at Mesón Los Arcos (La Iglesuela). If you want to avoid this step, we recommend that you use any mobile application that allows you to send the complete trace in IGC format by e-mail (for example, TTLivetrack24).
The dinner of the Open will take place on Saturday 2 (to be confirmed) and is included in the registration of the pilots. Accompanying persons pay a small fee (details later).
The Closing Ceremony will take place on Sunday 3 at Mesón Los Arcos as soon as the classifications are available.
