Opening Notes is currently funded through three sources: tuition for elementary school music classes, a small grant from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), and donations from a few individuals. As we continue to grow, we will need to expand our financial and volunteer support.

You can donate any amount and you can of course donate anonymously. If you would prefer to have a registered donation, please enter your name and reference your postal mailing or email address in the payment fields below.

FUND A KID:

While we charge tuition for participating in the elementary band classes, many of our kids can not afford it. At one of the Title 1 schools which we serve, less than one-fourth of the kids can contribute anything towards their tuition. But we provide them with two qualified instructors, a good instrument, and often buy their books, reeds, and stands. The cost of tuition and materials for a semester is approximately $200.

IMPROVE MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC QUALITY:

We provide funding for the middle school teachers to bring in specialists to work with 7th and 8th grade students, individually or in small groups, to improve skill, confidence, and enjoyment. In this role, the District employs highly qualified and experienced music educators, many of which have been involved in LPS instrumental music for quite a few years. Funding one of these instructors, for one month, for one middle school, costs about $150.
