To provide an excellent education for students, CSU-AAUP faculty need the time and resources to do our jobs well, and our expertise must be acknowledged and employed. We need:
Full-time faculty load of 3 credits of service/research, 9 credits of teaching (vs. 0 & 12)
More research reassigned time and sabbatical leaves, 3 office hours any day and virtual options
More travel and research funding
Less renewal, promotion, and tenure uncertainty due to biased student opinion surveys and arbitrary provost decisions
Real consultation with faculty bodies, especially about programmatic changes
Faculty control of all educational and curricular matters, including modality, course scheduling, dual/concurrent enrollment, and Artificial Intelligence
No outsourcing of educational work to third parties, especially for-profit companies
All CSU-AAUP members need to be treated equitably. This requires:
More job security for part-time faculty with multi-semester contracts, protection of academic freedom, and due process
Fair compensation for librarians who work on a 12-month schedule
Improved working conditions for coaches
Guaranteed professional development for counselors
Everyone in our university community must have extra support to succeed, with:
Improved paid family leave
Sick days for part-time faculty
Increased support for minority recruitment & retention, and diversity, equity & inclusion
Protections against sexual harassment/bullying
More childcare facilities
Protections for international faculty
