Open Innovation Lab
Final Seminar Agenda
Final Seminar Agenda
The project Open Innovation Lab, funded by the VINNOVA FFI program (link), aimed at developing an open license-free simulation platform and tool-chain for supporting development, test and demonstration of automotive software components.
Already today, software has become central when developing new and innovative automotive functionality, adding software engineers to the crowd of automotive developers. But for software engineers to be able to quickly create, test and demonstrate prototypes, they need an accessible and cheap environment to work in. Today, such environments are typically specialized and proprietary with expensive licenses.
The objective with the Open Innovation Lab is to develop a platform using open well-defined formats and interfaces in order to facilitate vehicle manufacturers to provide developers with an environment in which to add or modify software functions.
At this final seminar we will present the platform, and demonstrate it with example simulators in which simple proof-of-concept software functions have been integrated with virtual representations of vehicles from Volvo Cars and Volvo Trucks. In addition, we will demonstrate the engineering workflow to setup a simulator environment and how to integrate a custom developed software function.
