Founded on International Women's Day (March 8, 2019) in Oak Park, Illinois, Troop 308 is a thriving girl's troop in the Scouting America program Scouts BSA program. We are dedicated to providing premier leadership and adventure experiences to young women in our community.
We have grown into a vibrant organization of approximately 25 dedicated scouts, including our first Eagle Scout (the highest rank in Scouts BSA) and five more currently working toward that prestigious achievement.
Our scouts are fully engaged, meeting all requirements and participating in the full, challenging spectrum of traditional scouting adventures:
Essential Scoutcraft: Developing critical outdoor skills, including fire lighting, knot tying, and advanced camp cooking (like using a Dutch oven over hot coals).
Year-Round Camping: We camp year-round, regardless of weather, including specialized trips like canoe camping on the Rock River and attending our annual summer camp at Camp Owasippe near Muskegon, MI.
High Adventure Expeditions: Our troop takes on ambitious, once-in-a-lifetime trips to premier national scouting bases, such as Boundary Waters, Philmont Scout Ranch (NM), and Sea Base Scout Facility (FL).
Service & Honor: Exemplary scouts are elected to the Order of the Arrow, a national honor society focused on service. We regularly perform service projects that benefit the Oak Park area and our community.
We fund our year of adventure through hands-on fundraising, including our annual mum sale!
