About us

Opacity Media is a boutique post production facility, established in 2017, in the Johannesburg metropolitan, by Juvan Redelinghuys and Rob Verster.

Together we have 31 years’ experience in the South African television industry, with a focus on script-based drama. This includes editing on 7 seasons of kykNET’s first original soapie, Villa Rosa, at Spectro Productions.

Opacity Media managed the post production of a variety of local productions, including more than 1,600 episodes of the kykNET soapie Getroud Met Rugby for Overberg Productions, as well as 23 made-for-TV films.

Together with Deon Opperman Productions we’ve completed 13 films for the kykNET’s Jou Sondagdrama made-for-TV film series. These include Stille Nag, Aantrekkingskrag, Oorlewing C-Blok and Droomman. Droomman won the 2020 South African Film & Television Award (SAFTA) for best made-for-TV film.

During 2020 we post produced 10 films for Soné Combrinck Productions as part of the kykNET Storiefilms series. These films include Lykskou, Fladder, Krismasboks and Kranksinnig. Mike & Mavis was nominated for a 2021 South African Film & Television Award (SAFTA) for best made-for-TV film.

For the 2023 broadcast season we post produced 5 kykNET Storiefilms, including Herleef, Drie Ja's en 'n Nee & Geduld is a Virtue (Sonvelt Media), as well as Bankvas & Tweede Kans (Red Pepper Pictures). We also worked on the psychological thriller Horisonne (Sonvelt Media) for streaming platform Showmax.

Opacity Media facilitates the online and offline edit of programs, subtitles, packaging and final digital delivery of productions in accordance with the M-Net- standard. Our facilities are equipped for the post-2020 era of remote working, with online viewings and a virtual private network (VPN) to enable remote service anywhere in the world.
