The United Nations Security Council, one of the six principal organs of the United Nations, was founded in 1945 with the signing of the Charter of the United Nations (UN Charter Article 7, 1945). In the light of the events at the time, the international community conferred “primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security” to the Security Council (UN Charter Article 24.1, 1945). Since then, it has played an increasing role in addressing international conflicts through, providing technical assistance, overseeing and promoting peace negotiations and employing peacekeeping missions.
Of all the visceral experiences, some of my most memorable ones have been during participation in various Model United Nations over a span of 3 years.I still remember witnessing some of the greatest quality in debate that I have come across in my life and understanding how such dialogues are integral for the sake of humanity. Interacting with people who are ready to listen, understand and follow up with the same conviction is what will drag to back to this MUN and the Security Council for that matter.
The Power that the youth holds today is incomparable and quite literally unparalleled. In a time where there is destruction and wreckage at every step, the fate of the future is in our hands. We are the wielders of the dagger. We are the Solution.

I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all delegates participating in this conference. After being a delegate in multiple conferences previously, I personally know how all of you feel before the conference: nervous or scared but also inspired and excited. MUN isn't just an opportunity to wear fancy suits and thrash resolutions, it's a simulation where like-minded individuals can come together and debate on issues of global magnitude. To those who are joining us for the first time, I hope that we are able to ignite you spark for debating, collaboration and interaction and to ensure that the experience you have at OOWMUN’ 19 will be one that you cherish for many years to come . As the co-chair of UNSC, I hope for enticing discourse, thoughtful solutions, and an all-around great experience. Remember to voice your points, research thoroughly and most importantly, have fun.
Good Luck!
