Through cutting-edge engineering design and state-of-the-art manufacturing and hand-assembly techniques, the Twin Turbo Furious' double triple-axis tourbillons have become the very ultimate solution in tourbillon-enhanced chronometric performance. Rotating and lightning fast speeds of 24, 48 and 180 seconds along the three axes of rotation, the engineering refinement of this configuration is only superseded by its visual impact: seeing purely mechanical assemblies of such refinement in such high-speed, yet accurate motion is the holy grail of ultra-fine watch connoisseur experiences.

Bringing the hypercar-inspired Twin Turbo even closer to the world of the fastest automobiles is its built-in mechanical Pit Board, an easy way to compare two elapsed times. Inspired by the old-time pit boards in auto racing, you use the crank (pulled out to the first position and unfolded) to move the colored, rotating disk and central digital display to set the reference time. Then, when you operate the monopusher chronograph normally, you can easily see the difference between the current time and the reference time you set. Seconds times greater than the reference time are in the red (+) portion of the pit board, while seconds times lower than the reference time are in the yellow and green (-) portion. Unlike today's pit boards, which are electronic, this is all done mechanically.

In very good news, Fast 9's fast cars, big booms, and increasingly zany sequences mostly rely on practical effects. It's easy to spot a few exceptions, where clearly faked rows of cars bounce around in a cheap, CGI-rendered mess, but for the most part, Fast 9 spends its massive budget on believable bombast.

Without spoiling anything, the final sequence is an excuse to slam real cars together up and down busy streets. It's a brand-new gimmick in the action film universe. The filmmakers double down on the sequence with gorgeous long shots, instead of fast-cutting the hell out of it. And the results rank up there with F5's breathtaking bridge-driving showdown.

The good parts of Fast 9 are enough to live up to the usual series expectations at this point: the action is somehow bigger than last time, and the people pulling it off work together with a believable amount of heart, pride, and loyalty. Diesel remains the series' rock (pun intended), and whether a scene calls for grit or goofiness, he's on it like go-fast stripes on a muscle car.

When you first step inside Tej's party bus, you travel down a corridor at the ride's start. In reality, you're not moving that fast, but if you're sitting in the right seat (we'll get to that in a bit) it really feels like you're speeding down a long corridor. Until my third ride through, I could not figure out how they pulled off that illusion.

From there, you're on the move from Shaw. In the next room, you're "racing" down a Los Angeles highway to safety. You're supposed to feel like you're going about 120-miles per hour. I've driven 100 miles per hour before (sorry Jersey) and it's not exactly the same effect. But you do feel like you're cruising even though, in reality, you're not going anywhere near that speed. (I was told the buses travel at "show speeds." When I asked how fast that is, I was told it's not information that's given out.)

I was still a bit bummed the ride didn't involve sitting in and racing fast cars. That's a criticism of the ride I see across the internet while discussing the attraction. Maybe there's room for a follow-up ride at some point like when the next "Fast" movie hits theaters in 2020. It's clear fans would love that and it would probably be a massive hit.

A traditional carbonara is made with eggs, bacon or pancetta, and cheese (hello cholesterol bomb). So it's basically just about the least vegan dish there could be... which is why I had so much fun playing around in the kitchen and veganizing it! Not only did I figure out a way to get the creamy blissful sauce and the chewy delicious bites, but this turned out to be a super fast and easy vegan carbonara recipe. Just the way this girl likes it! 17dc91bb1f
