Being the most important organ of the United Nations, the house's main jurisdiction is the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace . It calls upon the parties to a dispute to settle it by peaceful means. In some cases, the Security Council can resort to imposing sanctions or even authorizing the use of force to maintain or restore international peace and security.

Welcome to 2008, the former USSR region passes throught the first major conflict since the dissolution the Soviet Republic, in 1991. In order to preserve international peace and the respect for the human rights, we invite you to put an end to the war happening at the moment at the Caucasus region. The Russo-Georgian War began with the separatist groups from Abkhazia and South Ossetia claiming for their indenpendence. From that, the world was once again polarized. By one side, Russia, defending the right of self determination, and against that, NATO members, supporting the territorial integrity of the Georgian nation.

Hi dear delegates! I am Juliana from class 21 and I am one of the UNHSC directors. That’s my second time as the chair and I couldn’t be more excited! As I began to simulate, I felt in love with the Security Council - for me, it is one of the most enjoyable and interesting committees. Taking part in ONU Colegial was one of the best experiences I have ever had and it changed my life completely. In the UNHSC, besides from all the learning you get, you can also practice your english. I am sure you won’t regret it. Find your partners, study, and let’s do diplomacy! Looking forward to our debates, see you soon!

Dear delegates, welcome to this year’s UNHSC, it is a pleasure to have you here with us! I’m Mafe (or Maria Fernanda if you like being formal), I’m from class 33 and hopefully a Design student next year. In my spare time I love to draw or watch YouTube videos, as well as studying history. This is my twelfth UN model, my second time as the Chair and my fourth and final ONU Colegial. When I saw this committee I was very excited, not only because simulating in English is much better than in Portuguese, but also because I love the theme, hopefully you are as excited as I am.
