I am originally from Toledo, Ohio. My mother taught in Toledo Public Schools for over 30 years, so schools and education have played a significant role in my life from the very beginning.
I studied engineering at Purdue University in Indiana, earning my Bachelor's degree in in 2012. After graduating, I packed up my Ford Ranger and drove down to Florida in search of work. I began my professional journey in technical theatre and engineering roles before transitioning into education. This background informs my systems thinking, clarity in communication, and commitment to purposeful design — skills that translate directly to effective school leadership.
My first significant professional role was at the University of Florida Performing Arts, where I worked my way up to becoming Technical Director. While I enjoyed my time in professional event production, I made a shift into K-12 education in 2018, when I finished a master's degree in Mathematics Education at the University of Florida. I began teaching secondary mathematics at Q.I. Roberts Jr-Sr High School.
I have enjoyed teaching a range of different mathematics courses over the last several years, but I developed an interest in making an impact beyond just my classroom. In 2024, I completed my second master's degree from the University of Florida with a focus in Educational Leadership.
