My projects lie at the intersection of mathematical modeling, optimization, artificial intelligence, and education. I am particularly interested in turning mathematical ideas into practical tools.
Network Traffic Distribution Algorithms, Capstone Design Project, Department of Mathematics, Ajou University
This project was conducted as part of the Capstone Design Project in the Department of Mathematics at Ajou University, in collaboration with Minchan Joo and Jaeyoung Kim.
We investigated existing algorithms for network traffic distribution and proposed two alternative algorithms. We then evaluated their performance and compared them with currently used approaches.
Restaurant Seating Optimization, 1st Place, 2025 Data Challenge
This project was submitted to the 2025 Data Challenge, where the main theme was the development of optimization algorithms using OR-Tools.
In collaboration with Sungkyung Moon and Sangwoo Kim, we designed a seating arrangement algorithm for restaurants that considers both customer satisfaction and table turnover. The project was awarded 1st place in the competition.
Development of Educational Materials on Artificial Intelligence for Elementary Students
I developed educational materials designed to intuitively explain the principles of artificial intelligence models, including neural networks, CNNs, and diffusion models, to upper-grade elementary school students. These materials were used in the software education program at Maewon Elementary School and received positive feedback from the students.
Quantum Algorithm for a Multilayer Perceptron, Capstone Design Project, Department of Mathematics, Ajou University
This project was conducted as part of the Capstone Design Project in the Department of Mathematics at Ajou University, in collaboration with Jaehoon Han and Sehyun Yuk.
We extended previous results on a single-layer perceptron implemented as a quantum algorithm and developed a quantum algorithmic implementation of a multilayer perceptron. The significance of this project lies in introducing nonlinearity into quantum algorithms, which are inherently linear in their standard formulation.
Weight-Loss Period Prediction, 2nd Place, 2024 Data Challenge
This project was submitted to the 2024 Data Challenge, where the main theme was conducting a project using JAX and PINNs. The project was carried out in collaboration with Sangwoo Kim and Sunghyun Hwang.
Based on a research paper that proposed a differential equation model for body weight incorporating lifestyle habits and congenital factors, we developed a program that predicts the expected duration required to reach a target weight. The project was awarded 2nd place in the competition.
Text To Dot, Selected for the Side Impact Program by the Brian Impact Foundation
Text To Dot is an AI-based Braille translation application prototype designed to improve accessibility for visually impaired users, in collaboration with Yebin Shin. The project aims to lower the barrier to Braille translation for caregivers, facility staff, and non-specialists by making Braille materials easier to create, learn, and maintain.
This project was selected for the Side Impact Program and received KRW 5,000,000 in funding.
