Jon Nelson is an award-winning television journalist for thirty years based in Atlanta. He graduated from Lakeside High School in Atlanta and Florida State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Political Science. He has also covered high school athletics for Georgia Public Broadcasting for twenty-six seasons as a host and correspondent for its high school coverage. He is the author of six books about high school and college football in the southeast. He lives in suburban Atlanta with his far-more-pretty wife, Patty, and their furry child- Rowdy, the Pekingese .

I was born a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Or not.

A grizzled, veteran sports (and news) journalist, I have been involved in sports coverage as far back as I can remember and probably before a lot of people were born.

35-plus years of shooting, producing, editing and writing stories on and about the games that make life fun, I’ve covered everything from the Super Bowl, to the World Series, the Masters and down to Little League Sports.

When I’m not watching or reading about the latest news, you’ll probably find me with a craft beer of some sorts in my hand while cooking in my outdoor kitchen or playing (chasing after) my two dogs while my wife Michelle laughs.

I don’t know if this is where I say something profound, so in light of my confusion, I won’t.

Born and raised in northeast Ohio, I've been in broadcasting since before the turn of the century (yikes, more than 30 years) mostly behind the scenes as an engineer but occasionally on air working some local sports in the Youngstown market back where I started my career.

I know reside in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and can be found at sporting events all over
