Quality Instruction Checklist
- The instructor responds to each student’s self-introduction with a personalized comment.
- The instructor personalizes the course by including biographical information.
- The student is provided specific instructions on how and when they can contact the instructor during the course.
- The instructor facilitates the class discussions through well-designed replies that move the student toward further exploration of the topic and critical thinking.
- The instructor is present in the threaded discussions at least 3 times per week.
- In addition to the Discussion Question instructions, the Instructor adds an occasional initial post to explain the discussion question further, address deficiencies in student posts, or encourage participation.
- Throughout the threaded discussions, the instructor displays knowledge of the course material.
- The instructor responds to students in a positive and encouraging manner.
- When a student asks a question (either in the Open Forum or in a Discussion Questions), the instructor gives prompt feedback to every student within a 24-hour period.
- The instructor points to additional resources beyond what is already in the syllabus or course material (websites, books, articles, etc.).
- The instructor maintains a comfortable learning environment.
- The instructor actively encourages students to participate in the learning process.
- The instructor posts grades in the grade book in a timely manner.
- The instructor provides the student with feedback on assignments through comments that explain grades for course assignments and through additional feedback.
