"Special Program in Journalism" (SPJ) is a dedicated educational program within a secondary school curriculum, designed to comprehensively develop students' journalistic skills in writing, editing, broadcasting, and media production, aiming to foster responsible and ethical journalism practices while equipping them with the necessary tools for effective communication across various platforms like print, online, and broadcast media; typically implemented by the Department of Education (DepEd) in accordance with the Campus Journalism Act, allowing students to gain in-depth experience and knowledge beyond the standard school paper production.
"Special Program in the Arts" (SPA) is a program initiated by the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd) designed to nurture and develop the artistic potential of gifted students across various art disciplines like visual arts, music, theater, dance, creative writing, and media arts, allowing them to enhance their skills in a dedicated curriculum within public high schools; essentially providing a focused pathway for aspiring young artists to hone their talents and contribute to the preservation of Philippine culture.
"Special Science Class" (SSC) is a selective program within a school curriculum designed for students with a strong interest in science, offering additional advanced science and math courses beyond the regular curriculum, often including topics like research, biotechnology, environmental science, and advanced chemistry, with the goal of preparing students for STEM-related fields in higher education and careers; admission is typically based on academic performance in science and math, and students need to maintain a high GPA to remain in the program.
"Special Program in Sports" (SPS) is a program in the Philippines that helps students with a talent for sports develop their skills and prepare for higher levels of competition. The program is part of the Department of Education's (DepEd) K to 12 Basic Education Program.

Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand is a senior high school program that studies human behavior, culture, and societal issues. It also covers topics such as literature, arts, and politics.
General Academic Strand (GAS) is a senior high school program that prepares students for college and a variety of professional paths. It's a good option for students who are unsure about which career path to pursue.
Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand is a high school course that prepares students for business-related college degrees. It covers topics like business management, financial management, and entrepreneurship.
Technical-Vocation-Livelihood (TVL) Strands:
Computer Systems Servicing (CSS) strand is a Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) program that teaches students how to install, configure, and maintain computer systems and networks. It's a good option for students who are interested in technology and want to work in the ICT industry.
Electronics Products Assembly and Servicing (EPAS) strand is a Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) a course that teaches students how to assemble, service, and install electronic products. The course is designed to develop skills and knowledge in the field of electronic products.
Industrial Arts (IA) strand is a Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track in Senior High School that teaches technical skills and knowledge for specific trades.
Home Economics (HE) strand is a Technical-Vocational and Livelihood (TVL) track that prepares students for careers in the food, fashion, and hospitality industries. The strand provides students with skills and knowledge for livelihood projects at home and work.
The Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) strand is a Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track that prepares students for careers in the electrical industry. The strand teaches students how to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment.
Agriculture strand is a Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track a program that teaches students the skills and knowledge needed for a career in agriculture. It can be found in senior high school and college.
