The online degree programs are designed to bring the entertainment industry to you. Our industry-experienced instructors share their expertise through our Learning Management System (LMS). This secure, web-based platform allows you to discuss projects with your fellow classmates, submit weekly assignments and watch instructor videos all from wherever you live.

Online students pay the following fees: Connect UGA, Green, and Technology. The total for those fees in the fall semester of 2022 was $147 for students enrolled in exclusively online courses.

This fully online program requires the completion of 33 credit hours and can be completed with an accelerated 14-month option or in two years. Students pursuing this degree begin matriculation in the summer session. Please note there are alternative matriculation options available upon advisement.

I wanted to truly see how I could improve as an educator. I have a passion for education and enjoy finding innovative and effective ways to engage meaningful music learning in my students. As an online Master of Music in music education degree student, you will critically examine a variety of research that informs music education. You will discuss and analyze philosophical, sociological, and psychological ideas and problems in the field of music education. Valley City State University offers certificate programs for students who wish to increase their learning in music and earn a credential to demonstrate their accomplishment, but do not want to commit to a full degree program. These programs include certificates in Piano Pedagogy and Composition.

The Piano Pedagogy certificate is recommended for all intended and current piano studio instructors who seek the opportunity to enhance their musical and teaching skills for the betterment of their piano students. It is also designed to assist students in preparing for MTNA certification. An audition showing current piano performance ability is required for admission. The Composition certificate program gives budding composers the theoretical knowledge and practical skills they need to start a career as a composer. It is recommended that students be proficient on a musical instrument, especially a harmonizing instrument (piano or guitar) before enrolling in this program. Now is the time to take the next step in your professional career and enroll in the Master of Arts in Music: Music Education Concentration at EIU. The Master of Arts in Music, Music Education Concentration provides a course of study that is primarily online with a one-week residency on the EIU campus.

The Doudna Fine Arts Center is a 269,380 square-foot, state-of-the-art performance and teaching complex for the departments of art, music and theatre arts. The facility includes four performance venues, ample rehearsal and practice space, a digital recording studio, an electronic music studio, and a music technology laboratory. The Doudna Fine Arts Center also offers a full array of arts events. The purpose of this course is to equip graduate music education students with the knowledge and skill to be able to locate, read, and understand the research literature in music education, applying it to their practice.
