It has been observed that many students find music lessons boring and not interesting at all. As a teacher, you should invent exciting ways to teach your students, making it enjoyable. If you are still confused about these ways, RCM music theory lessons suggest the following four ways which will make your teaching music theory enjoyable:
Flashcards - Flash cards are one of the best tricks to teach something. Many therapists and teachers use this method to teach complex topics. To use this trick, you have to make some flashcards and write a group of notes on each flash card. Hand over the cards to the kids, so every kid gets a card. Then play a rhythm and tell them to look at each other's cards and create the rhythm by standing in order of that rhythm. It is the easiest and most fun way to learn music theory.
Music treasure hunt - Who doesn't love a treasure hunt game? We played it at most of the birthday parties. You have to play it in the same traditional way but with a twist. Pick a melody and print out pictures of its notes. Write numbers on the backside of these pictures to make them in order. Hide these pictures in your classroom or at the place where you are playing. And now it's hunting time. Tell the kids to find the pictures and combine them to find the melody. It is a fun game, and kids will learn music theory unknowingly.
Theory behind their favorite song: We are more interested in things we enjoy or love. If you teach them the music theory of songs they don't even know exist, they will not pay attention. Instead of teaching in a boring way, you can teach them the theory of their favorite songs. You can use this trick during your online private music lessons, and they will get excited to learn more about music theory. They will be shocked to see that boring music theory plays a role in their favorite song.
Encourage them to compose - A fact that composing music is easier for kids than adults because they are unaware of the distinction between good and bad music. Kids don't care what other people think; they always have competition with them. So please tell them to compose music using music theory. Tell them to add a signature and a key changer to their music. It will help them understand more about how music composition works. This activity will help kids learn the basics of music theory, and adults who already have some knowledge of music theory can cement it permanently with this activity
