I’m so glad you found your way here.
The story behind my business is a sum of many paths, and here is a little glimpse into that journey.

My love for handicrafts and horses has been with me for as long as I can remember. I vividly recall making my very first pair of riding breeches with my grandmother. We went to the fabric store for some beige cloth, and even though the end result was perhaps a bit more "baggy" than I had imagined, the joy of creating and the pride of a handmade product stayed with me.

Horses, on the other hand, have fascinated me since I was a child. I’ve owned horses for years and have also completed studies in the equine industry. All of my own horses have been large ones, and I was constantly frustrated—and still am—by how difficult it was to find gear that actually fit them.

The idea of making gear myself simmered in my mind for a long time, but life first led me to office work and retail. Eventually, things came to a halt in the form of burnout...
During my sick leave, a request from my daughter to sew a hobby horse changed everything. Sewing felt relaxing for the first time in years and had a healing power—suddenly, I had created over a dozen of them.

Horses also brought me back to life, and I started thinking about including my home stable as part of the business.

I briefly returned to my old job, but the spark for sewing strongly guided me to look for something new. Ultimately, it led me to study to become a handicraft instructor and an artisan. During my studies, the pieces fell into place: Onkamo Horses & Artisan was born.

What does Onkamo Horses & Artisan offer you?

• Finnish Training belts: I want to make the everyday life of enthusiasts easier. These training belts are designed and sewn here in Haukipudas to withstand heavy use at dog training fields and horse stables alike. They are also fantastic tools for hunters, fishers, and berry pickers.
  The apron is versatile—ready for whatever adventure you choose!

• Unique Items from Recycled Materials: Quality and eco-friendliness are at the core of my business. I want to give a new life to high-quality recycled and surplus materials—
  it’s my way of making the world a little better and bringing sustainable choices to you.
  Using recycled materials makes every product completely unique and reduces waste.
  When you choose our products, you know it’s an eco-friendly act that looks and feels good.

• Hobby Horse Dreams: Every hobby horse born here is a unique character. I don't want to make two of the same, and I don't believe in assembly-line work—my creativity, my own patterns,
  and a genuine handmade touch are visible in every "friend." Creative work requires the right moment: sometimes a hobby horse needs time to mature in my mind, while other times inspiration strikes and I sew several at once. You’ll find a hobby horse here that no one else has.

• Stable Services: Our horse stable services include comprehensive full-care boarding, allowing the owner to focus on enjoying time with their horse. We’ve also been called a "Horse Hotel." The well-being of the horses and the comfort of the people at our stable are our top priorities.
