Class Descriptions

Songwriting & Recording (Ages 12-18): Embark on a creative journey where melodies meet lyrics, and harmonies blend with rhythms in our Collaborative Songwriting and Recording class. In this dynamic course, students will delve into the art of crafting songs while working closely with two experienced instructors. Through a blend of hands-on exercises and group discussions, students will explore every aspect of the songwriting process, from inception to recording and producing. Songwriting fundamentals, song structure, lyric writing, music theory and recording/production are skills and techniques you will grow on in this course! Join us on a musical journey where creativity knows no bounds, and every voice has a story to tell. Together, let's craft songs that resonate with the world.

Acting- Improv (Ages 6-12): Unleash your creativity and boost your confidence through the exciting world of improvisational acting! Our Improv Acting Class is designed to make learning the art of improv both fun and educational. Improv is an acting technique that is so fun! You will enter and exit class each day with a smile! Improv can be used on its own, for creation of stories and scenes; it is also a skill that will help actors in their performances of plays and musicals! Creative Expression, Team Building, Quick Thinking, Storytelling are just some of the skills students will explore and progress in during this class with Miss Maddie! 

Teen Acting (Ages 13-18): In this class, we'll explore a variety of techniques and exercises designed to develop your skills and confidence on stage. Whether you're a seasoned performer or just starting out, there's something here for everyone! Improv: Get ready to think on your feet and unleash your spontaneity! Improvisation is a fundamental skill for any actor, helping you to react in the moment and unlock new levels of creativity. Monologues: Discover the power of storytelling as we delve into the art of scenework. Learn how to connect with your audience, evoke emotion, and bring your characters to life through performance. Character Building: Dive deep into character development as we explore different techniques for creating fully realized, three-dimensional characters. From physicality to backstory, you'll learn how to inhabit your characters and make them truly memorable. Scene Work: Put your skills to the test with scene work! Partnering with your classmates, you'll have the opportunity to explore a variety of scenes from both classic and contemporary plays, films, and TV shows. From voice and movement exercises to ensemble building activities, there's always something new to discover in our acting class. Whether you're interested in drama, comedy, or anything in between, this class is your opportunity to shine!

Broadway Ballet (Ages 10-18): Attention aspiring Broadway stars! Dive into the world of dance with our Broadway Ballet Class designed specifically for our students who want to strengthen their dancing as a whole. Whether you're a beginner in ballet or looking to refine your skills for auditions and productions, this class is your ticket to a harmonious blend of grace, technique, and theatrical flair. This class will prepare you to excel in any style of dance, as Ballet is the foundation to all styles of dance. Our Broadway playlist will keep students engaged, focused and determined to succeed as they learn the synergy between ballet and musical theater. You will strive to convey emotion, tell a story through movement, and enhance your stage presence for auditions and productions.

Tap Dance for Singers (Ages 10-18): Step into the spotlight with our Advanced Tap Dance class, specially crafted for vocalists looking to add the dazzling flair of tap to their musical theater repertoire. There are so many musicals that include tap dancing... why be nervous about your dance audition? Get into this class to gain confidence, skills and steps to help you get your dream role! Immerse yourself in the distinctive tap style of Broadway. From classic Broadway hits to contemporary musicals, this class is your ticket to mastering the rhythmic footwork that defines the magic of musical theater. Each class will feature choreography set to popular Broadway tunes, allowing you to express emotions and narratives through the fusion of tap and song. This was one of our first classes offered at One Voice, and continues to be a popular/favorite! 


Movie Stars (Ages 8-14) : Lights, camera, action! Welcome to the Movie Stars Class, where students embark on a six-week cinematic adventure to create, write, and star in their very own movie. This is not just a class; it's a journey into the heart of Hollywood, where every student becomes the director, writer, and star of their class film! Scriptwriting, Film Production Basics, On-Camera Acting Techniques and Collaborative Filmmaking are just some of the skills students will learn during this 6 week course! Open to all levels of Actors & Filmmakers who have a passion for storytelling and creation of cinema! Students will show their film at a 'Movie Premiere' the final week. 


Fosse Fridays (Ages 12-18): Step into the world of jazz and singing as we pay homage to the iconic choreographer and director, Bob Fosse. In this captivating class, students will immerse themselves in the vibrant rhythms, sultry movements, and timeless melodies that define the jazz genre, while also exploring the groundbreaking contributions of Bob Fosse to the world of dance and musical theater. Jazz dance technique, vocal performance, Bob Fosse's style and legacy, as well as stage presence/character portrayal are skills students will learn, grow and train during this course. 


Glee Club (Ages 12-18): Join our One Voice Glee Club and embark on a musical journey filled with the thrill of harmonizing voices in perfect unison. This class is designed to cultivate vocal skills, foster a love for music, and provide students with the opportunity to experience the magic of singing as part of a vibrant ensemble. Students will learn the history of Glee Clubs, learn about vocal technique & terminology, as well as sing songs as a group in various different styles! Students will learn new repitiore, dynamics, harmony, blend and ear training! Each session combines vocal warm-ups, group rehearsals, sectional work, and performance practice, providing a well-rounded and immersive experience in singing.
