doTERRA was started by 7 people in 2008. These 7 individuals had a vision for doTERRA and left their jobs and 100% funded the company. doTERRA is the largest essential oil company in the world and has always been debt-free. As of 2015, doTERRA has over 2.4 million members world wide and the number keeps growing.
doTERRA runs six tests with every single oil before it is sold. Every liter of oil is tested, not just random samplings. They start by testing the basics: sight, smell, taste and touch. They then check for fungus, mold, pesticides or other contaminants. It's much more scientific than what I've described here and you can check it all out on doterra's blog.
Many people often accuse doTERRA of using synthetics in their oils (as many companies do.) However, time and time again doTERRA has proven that the oils are indeed pure and completely natural by running different tests. Dr. Pappas is an oil chemistry expert, who does not work for doTERRA but has tested the oils and refuted any false claims about synthetic ingredients in the oils.
This one is HUGE for me. doTERRA is a company I can support fully as I know that they are committed to making a difference in the world. doTERRA has a non-profit charity called "Healing Hands", it's funded by members, employees and the founders. Healing Hands has raised thousands of dollars to change many lives around the world. One example is helping the earthquake victims in Nepal by providing shelter, food and blankets immediatly. And since the earthquake doTERRA has been building schools that are up to code for the children and community. As stated on their website: "dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation seeks to bring healing and hope to the world, for lives free of disease and poverty, and to ultimately teach impoverished cultures how to be self-reliant. The dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation will be supported by contributions from our Independent Product Consultants, Retail and Preferred Customers, Company Executives and Employees, and others who share our vision. Donations will be be collected through monthly contributions, as well as one-time contributions."
doTERRA also uses co-Impact Sourcing, which means that they source their oils from the best place in the world based on harvesting, weather and the best circumstances for the plants to grow in native environments. Part of the co-Impact sourcing initiative is that doTERRA is working with families who have been harvesting oils for generations to pay people fair wages and improve the community as a whole by providing schools, drinking wells and whatever the community needs to thrive.
As a teacher, this one is important to me. I love learning about the oils I am using with my family and little kids. doTERRA provides hours of free education, guidance, recipes and support for oil users and people building a business. I strive to provide useful information for people on my team and we are always sharing ways we are using the products. We are part of a larger team which is also full of helpful support. Customer Service is always helpful too! There is a detailed pdf for each oil at doterratools.com. More info about the company, the oils and the business opportunity can be found on doterrauniversity.com.
You have three options:
There are no monthly fees and no requirements to sell or buy with either option.
Much less with a wholesale membership! The membership is like a shopping pass that gives you 25% off for a year. It is $35 ($350 pesos in Mexico) or free if you start with a kit. No monthly fees.
After 1 year if you want to renew your doTERRA membership you’d pay $25 and they’ll send you a free Peppermint ($20.50 value).
You are not required sell anything or buy again after your initial order (but you’ll likely want to!)
If you start with one of dōTERRA’s enrollment kits you save the $35 membership fee! This is how most people get started with dōTERRA, so they get the most oils for their money. The larger the kit, the more you save!
