If you want wired studio headphones for home listening and audio work, choose OneOdio A71; if you need a straightforward closed-back pair for mobile, studio, or DJ use, choose Turnstile Audio TAPH100. For swimming, choose neither: both are wired over-ear or on-ear headphones, and neither product sheet identifies them as water-resistant or designed for swimming.
OneOdio A71 vs Turnstile Audio TAPH100 at a Glance
• Turnstile Audio TAPH100’s biggest strength: its 50mm drivers, folding and pivoting cups, 9.8-foot attached cable, and 3.5mm connector make it a simple option for compatible devices. The trade-off is that the listed connection is 3.5mm only.
• Choose the A71 for flexible connections, one-ear monitoring, or sharing audio with another pair.
• Choose the TAPH100 for a 3.5mm-only setup and a stated 18Hz–22kHz frequency range.
• For swimming, neither is a suitable pick based on the listed features; look for a product explicitly designed for use in water.
The OneOdio A71 is a wired, over-ear headphone designed around practical listening and monitoring features. Its 3.5mm and 6.35mm plugs give it flexibility across compatible sources, including computers, laptops, amplifiers, keyboards, guitars, and mixers. That can be useful if your setup changes between a personal device and studio or instrument equipment. The included coiled cable is listed as 6.6 to 9.8 feet long, so there is room to move around a desk or nearby equipment without treating it like a wireless pair.
Its 90-degree swiveling earcups allow single-ear monitoring, leaving the other ear free for a conversation or surrounding sounds. That feature makes the A71 worth considering for someone who works with audio or wants to monitor playback while staying aware of a person nearby. The shared-audio port also offers a simple way to connect another pair for listening together. Rather than relying on a splitter, you can use the headphone’s audio-sharing setup. The cups fold inward, which helps make the design easier to put away when it is not being worn.
Comfort is a central part of its design: the sheet describes padded ear cushions and an adjustable, stretchable headband. Its stated weight is 290 grams. The listed frequency range is 20Hz–20kHz, with 32-ohm impedance and 110 dB sensitivity. Those details help characterize the headphone, but they do not establish how it will sound to every listener. The sheet describes a sound profile with bass, clear vocals, and crisp high tones; buyers should still treat that as a product description rather than a guarantee that it will suit their preferences.
How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
Who should skip it: Skip the A71 if you need a wireless or water-rated headphone, or if your device requires a connection other than the listed 3.5mm or 6.35mm plugs.
Turnstile Audio TAPH100: Who It's For
The Turnstile Audio TAPH100 is a wired, closed-back studio monitor headphone intended for studio, field, and DJ applications. It has 50mm drivers and a listed frequency response of 18Hz–22kHz. The product description emphasizes bass-rich sound and clear playback. Its 32-ohm impedance is described as suitable for mobile devices, which may make it a practical candidate for a phone, laptop, or other compatible source with a 3.5mm output.
Its attached cable is 9.8 feet long and ends in a 3.5mm connector. That gives a listener some reach around a workstation or nearby equipment, though the cable is not detachable according to the listed details. A 1/8-inch adapter is also described, extending the connection options for compatible gear. The distinction matters if you regularly use equipment with a 6.35mm input: the TAPH100’s listed connection is centered on 3.5mm, while the A71 explicitly includes both 3.5mm and 6.35mm plugs.
Who should skip it: Skip the TAPH100 if you need a documented 6.35mm connection, wireless listening, or headphones specified for use in water.
• Best for switching between 3.5mm and 6.35mm connections → OneOdio A71. It explicitly includes both plug sizes, making it the more flexible choice when compatible sources vary.
• Best for single-ear monitoring → OneOdio A71. Its 90-degree swiveling earcups are specifically described as allowing one ear to remain free.
• Best for sharing audio with another pair → OneOdio A71. The shared-audio port is a distinctive feature for listening with someone else.
• Best for a 3.5mm-only setup → Turnstile Audio TAPH100. Its attached 9.8-foot cable has a 3.5mm connector, and the product description also mentions a 1/8-inch adapter.
• Best for a stated 50mm driver size → Turnstile Audio TAPH100. The A71’s sheet identifies a dynamic driver but does not state its driver size.
• Best for a stated 20Hz–20kHz frequency range → OneOdio A71. The TAPH100 lists 18Hz–22kHz instead; these specifications describe different ranges, not a complete verdict on sound quality.
• Best for a compact fold-away design → It’s close. Both fold, but the A71 is described as folding its cups inward, while the TAPH100’s cups pivot and the headphones fold for storage.
• Best over ear headphones for swimming, best bluetooth earbuds for swimming, or best headset for swimming → neither. These are wired headphone models, and neither sheet identifies water resistance or swimming use.
I would choose the OneOdio A71 for a flexible wired listening setup because its two plug sizes, single-ear monitoring, and audio-sharing feature cover more of the situations I’d want from a studio-style pair. The TAPH100 remains a reasonable alternative if a 3.5mm connection, 50mm drivers, and folding cups are the main priorities. For swimming, I would buy neither: neither product is specified for use in water.
Before choosing between these models, check the connection your source actually accepts. The A71 includes 3.5mm and 6.35mm plugs, while the TAPH100 is listed with an attached 3.5mm cable and a 1/8-inch adapter. Neither is described as wireless, so a device without a compatible headphone jack may require a separate connection solution. The sheets do not specify wireless capability for either model.
Think about how you monitor sound, too. The A71’s 90-degree swivel is explicitly intended for single-sided monitoring, which can be useful if you need one ear free. The TAPH100’s cups pivot in two directions, a fit-adjustment feature rather than a stated one-ear monitoring function. Both products fold, but the folding descriptions differ; choose based on the design that best suits how you store or carry headphones rather than assuming either will fit a particular case.
Sound specifications are useful for understanding what each maker lists, but they do not settle personal preference. The A71 is described as having bass, clear vocals, and crisp highs, while the TAPH100 is described as bass-infused and clear. Their listed frequency ranges also differ: 20Hz–20kHz for the A71 and 18Hz–22kHz for the TAPH100. Those numbers alone do not tell you which one will sound better with your music, equipment, or listening habits.
Finally, keep your intended environment in view. The product details position these as wired headphones for listening, studio work, or DJ-related use; they do not state that either is waterproof or appropriate for swimming. If you are specifically searching for headphones to use in a pool, choose a model whose specifications clearly address water use instead of inferring it from a padded or closed-back design.
Neither product sheet identifies water resistance or swimming as a supported use. Both are wired headphone designs, so I would not choose either for use in a pool based on the information provided.
Which headphone is better for a mobile device?
Both are listed as wired and have a 3.5mm connection. The TAPH100’s 32-ohm impedance is specifically described as suitable for mobile devices; the A71 also lists 32 ohms and includes a 3.5mm plug.
Yes. Its listed cable setup includes both a 3.5mm plug and a 6.35mm plug. That makes the A71 the more direct option if you need that connection size for compatible audio equipment.
The A71 has 90-degree swiveling earcups, and its product details explicitly connect that design to single-ear monitoring. The TAPH100’s cups pivot vertically and horizontally, but its sheet does not describe that feature as a single-ear monitoring function.
