OneHill Lacrosse Commitment, Sportsmanship, and Conduct Guidelines:
Commitment to the Team
Full Season Commitment
Both players and parents recognize that joining the One Hill Lacrosse Club is a commitment for the entire spring season. This includes attending all practices, games, and team events. We understand that a lack of participation not only impacts the individual but also the team as a whole.
Attendance & Communication
Players agree to attend all practices and games, and if they are unable to attend for any reason, they or their parents will notify the coach at least 24 hours in advance whenever possible. Other specific arrangements can be discussed with coaches & board. We recognize that consistent attendance is essential for the growth of the player and the team’s success.
Priority Over Other Sports
Lacrosse is the priority sport during the spring league game season. Both players and parents agree to prioritize lacrosse over other activities and sports during this time, ensuring minimal conflicts with practices and games. This does not apply to family, academic, or religious activities. Additionally, players agree to not play for another lacrosse team during season play (February 1st – May 10th.) If a player plays a Winter School Sport, please discuss schedule with coaches.
Sportsmanship
Respect for All
Players and parents commit to showing respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, referees, and fans. We will uphold the values of good sportsmanship, regardless of the outcome of the game, and represent the One Hill Lacrosse Club positively both on and off the field.
Team First Approach
We agree that the success of the team comes before individual statistics or personal accolades. Players will always put the team’s goals above their own and work for the collective success of the One Hill Lacrosse Club.
Positive Behavior
Parents and players will refrain from negative comments directed at referees, opponents, teammates, or coaches. Players will support and encourage their teammates, while parents will model good behavior on the sidelines. A positive environment is essential for the development of both the player and the team.
As an athlete and as parents, you can help us establish an outstanding reputation for good sportsmanship. We expect exemplary behavior from our athletes both on and off the playing field. We must all work hard in conducting ourselves in a commendable manner. A display of unsportsmanlike conduct can result in sanctions against the offending athlete, parent,
and/or team. Always observe the following guidelines for good sportsmanship:
The good name of our organization is more important than any contest won by unfair play.
Be supportive of all athletes, coaches, and officials before, during, and after all contests.
Accept decisions of officials without dispute. They are seldom responsible for your success or failure, so do not blame them for your circumstances.
Recognize and show appreciation for the fine play of your opponent.
Be proud of our organization’s reputation and work hard to protect it.
Cheer for your team, not against the opponent.
Don't allow others' negative sportsmanship to become an excuse to do the same.
Parent/Coach Relations:
Both parenting and coaching are extremely difficult vocations. By establishing an understanding of each position, we are better able to accept the actions of the others and provide greater benefit to the athlete. As parents, when your son or daughter becomes involved in our programs, you have a right to understand what expectations are placed on your athletes. This begins with clear communication from the coach. All team communication should take place through the designated app.
Communication You Should Expect from the Coach:
1. Expectations the coach has for your athlete and the team.
2. Locations and times of all practices and games.
3. Team rules, guidelines, and requirements.
Communication Coaches Expect from Athletes:
1. Notification of any schedule conflicts in advance.
2. Questions to improve the understanding of a coach's strategy and/or expectations.
3. Injury or circumstances that may endanger the athlete when participating.
4. Youth sports can be some of the most rewarding moments of their lives. It is important to understand that there also may be times when things do not go the way you or your athlete wishes. At these times, respectful athlete and coach discussion is encouraged.
Appropriate Concerns to Discuss with a Coach:
1. Requesting ways to help your athlete to improve.
2. Concerns about your athlete's behavior.
It is very difficult to accept your athlete's not playing as much as you may hope. They make judgment decisions based on what they believe to be the best for all athletes involved. As you have seen from the list above, certain things can and should be discussed with your athlete's coach.
Issues Not Appropriate To Discuss With Coaches:
1. Team strategy.
2. Play calling.
3. Other student-athletes.
There are situations that may require a conference between the OneHill Lacrosse Board and the parent. These are to be encouraged. It is important that both parties involved have a clear understanding of the other's position. When these conferences are necessary, the following procedure should be followed to help promote a resolution to the issue of concern.
If you have a concern, you may want to discuss the issue with your athlete first. You may find through this communication an answer, resolution, or understanding of the situation before contacting others.
If You Have A Concern To Discuss, the Procedure You Should Follow:
1. Please give yourself time to understand your concern. Attempting to confront a coach before or after a contest or practice is not appropriate. These can be emotional times for both the parent and the coach. Meetings of this nature do not promote resolution.
2. Call or email a OneHill Lacrosse Board Member to set up an appointment to discuss a concern.
HAZING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. It is unsafe and can discourage participation as well as negatively affect an athlete’s mental and physical state, all forms of hazing are strictly prohibited.
Hazing includes, but is not limited to:
Any gesture, written, verbal or physical act that a reasonable person under the circumstances should know will have the effect of harming a person or placing a person in reasonable fear of harm to his or her person, or damage to his or her mental state.
Any social media post or text meant to intimidate or adversely affect a team member’s mental or physical health, safety, or welfare.
Any type of physical force, harm or injury inflicted by athletes on their team members.
Any coerced or involuntary activity by athletes on their team members that subject the athletes to an unreasonable risk of harm or that adversely affects their mental or physical health, safety, or welfare.
Drugs, alcohol, and illegal substance use will NOT be tolerated:
Any player found to be using drugs, illegal substances, or alcohol will be dismissed from the team without refund.

If you need to opt out it needs to be submitted in writing to the OneHill Lacrosse Board via email. All participants agree to safeguard photos from OneHill Lacrosse and only use them for private purposes.
