The Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Public Health, in collaboration with the Sri Ramachandra Innovation and Incubation Centre (SRIIC) and the Industrial Waste Management Association (IWMA), organized the One Health Expo 2024 on 5th November 2024. The event was held at the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Porur, Chennai-116. The theme of the expo focused on "Smart and Sustainable Development, Growth, and Future," addressing the importance of integrating health, environment, and technology to build a sustainable future.
The expo showcased a variety of initiatives, discussions, and activities aimed at promoting sustainable development and innovative solutions in the fields of public health, technology, and waste management.
Students from Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chennai, actively participated in the event, engaging in competitions based on the theme of sustainability and smart development.
Suyash Prabu and Sahanaa A, both from Class 9, participated in a Photo Contest that was centered around the theme “Transition of Tamil Nadu towards a Smart and Sustainable State.” Their work highlighted the evolution and future prospects of Tamil Nadu's development in line with sustainable practices. They were awarded Participation Certificates for their contributions.
B Sai Harini, a student from Class 10, participated in a Speech Competition where she spoke about the "Role of Students in Tackling Climate Change in India by Integrating One Health and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)." Her speech emphasized the importance of student involvement in addressing climate change and how integrating One Health principles with SDGs can create a more sustainable future. She also received a Participation Certificate for her insightful speech.
The One Health Expo 2024 proved to be an enriching experience for all attendees, including students from Bala Vidya Mandir, as it provided a platform to showcase their creative and intellectual contributions to the theme of sustainable development. The event served as an excellent opportunity for students to engage with contemporary issues and gain valuable exposure to the growing field of public health and sustainability.
