Monthly Update

Greetings,

This is our second open letter of many to come! Our intention is to write a monthly summary informing all who are interested in what God has been doing in and through One - Young Adults. This past month has been incredible. Each week we have had between 50 to 60 young adults from different backgrounds, denominations, and churches gather together as one body, in one spirit, with one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism and one God and Father of all (Ephesians 4:4-6). In response to the pressing desire we each share to see young lives transformed by faith in Jesus Christ, we have, in the last few weeks, set out to have a member of the group share the core gospel message before entering into worship each week. The month started and ended at the Urban Abbey while visiting Saalem, Redwood, and Transformation in between. In the month of February, we finished Romans and began working weekly through the book of Luke from the first chapter to the third. We also have been welcomed by both Evangel and Redwood Park Church, meaning we now have 5 locations large enough for our growing group to fellowship. Encouraging personal study of the Word is an integral part of what we are trying to build; an environment where each member has the tools necessary to pursue God through the Word. With this in mind, we have introduced a new Bible study method that promotes sound biblical exegesis while promoting room for reflection on how to apply these principles to our lives. Our goal in this is for participants to better understand the context of each passage through study, as well as sharing, praying and contemplating how each chapter can bring us to a deeper expression of love and humility before God.

Once again, we would like to invite you to join us in prayer. We as a group feel a need to pray together for: our churches, city, personal walks with God and most importantly, for God’s glory to be made known in Thunder Bay. It would be wonderful if you joined us for this time of prayer every week at 6:30, as it is open to all ages. We believe God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is not only applicable to Israel but something we should pray for today:

“...if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (ESV)
