Why isn't inviting people to write letters for you?
I can't meet with people in person/my friends live far away.
Virtual parties work, too. Video calls are still a way to keep each other company, chat, and connect.
I don't know anyone near me who shares my views.
Join your local Indivisible group for a source of like-minded people.
If you're in a swing state or district, check out Neighbor2Neighbor for likely neighbors to connect with. They are there, but they may be quiet.
You can also put out a call on social media for someone to buddy up with.Â
I'm nervous about reaching out/asking people to do things.
This is totally normal! Connecting with people builds power, and discouraging you from doing it is a defense mechanism social systems use to protect the status quo. When something feels risky, ask yourself whether the risk is to you or to existing power structures.
There's something else holding me back.
Tell me about it here. The more feedback I get, the more useful I can make these resources.
