Growing up in a generation where technology was introduced to us at such a young age, I started to feel like my phone controlled me more than I controlled it.
What was meant to make life easier slowly became something that made it harder to focus, harder to be present, and harder to feel at peace. My phone became a constant source of distraction, overwhelm, comparison, and noise.
But I realised that simply using a launcher that blocked or limited social media wasn’t enough.
The problem was deeper than just removing apps. I didn’t only need fewer distractions — I needed a phone that helped me live with more intention. Something that gave me structure without feeling restrictive. Something that helped me focus, organise my day, reduce impulsive use, and slowly rebuild a healthier relationship with technology.
That’s why I created Retake Launcher.
Retake Launcher is a minimalist Android launcher designed to help people take back control of their phones. It replaces the traditional cluttered home screen with a calmer, more intentional experience — limiting distractions while still giving users access to the tools they actually need.
With features like a simplified home screen, focus-friendly app access, built-in to-do lists, widgets, and intentional friction around distracting apps, Retake Launcher is built for people who don’t just want to use their phone less — they want to use it better.
Because real change doesn’t happen overnight.
It happens one small decision at a time.
One percent better every day.
